Moving away from monitors after only two years

index.php

Here are two more photos of the room, with a wide angle zoom. As I mentioned it’s somewhere around 45m2.
Nice room.:) Lots of windows and hard wood floors. Sound likes to bounce around in a room like that. Don't you experience too much echo, reverb when you play music?

At about the same height as LS60 but passive then, these Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G seem good. :) Within TS budget with a price of around $3200 plus an amp of.. well you don't need much power because they have, measured verified, sensitivity of 90.5dB/2.83V/m. In any case a 50-75 watt amp is enough.
Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G: (H x W x D)): 1050 x 230 x 332 mm (415/16 x 91/16 x 135/64")

Measures excellent:

True... but with the added "NOT" from his wife, I thought the KEF LS60 would bring him the most fun in the smallest package, while keeping it elegant and hopefully aesthetically pleasing way for her too, since they only need a power cable... maybe a signal cable too.
The Monitor Audio has a bit more wide dispersion in the midrange, which could impede overall tonality - especially in a "modern" and quite reflective room, where I believe the KEF could be a better choice, since the reflective sound more smoothly resemble the direct sound, also considered that they might hear them when moving around too, now that the room is kinda like a multipurpose room - thinking out loud here :)
I definitely love the way a coax design plays in my room, which do not work well with more typical midrange/tweeter designs, namely because of the reflective surfaces and me moving around at times too, while listening.

Speakers with narrow dispersion, considering TS room acoustics, can definitely be something to take into consideration regarding speaker selection.
Coax or two or three way speakers with, for example, tweeters like this one that have narrow controlled dispersion:

Speaking of which, Erin takes up his view starting at 16:30 in the video where he discusses the pros and cons of different types of radiation patterns plus his personal preference:

So (larger) floor-standing speakers are out of the question?
Those KEF LS60’s are a style I could probably get through. Other, larger floor-standers probably not. Given the size of the room, large floor-standers probably aren’t strictly necessary. I just rather have more headroom than I need and do occasionally like turning them up.

I think it needs to be considered that if something as simple as a power supply capacitor in the plate amp of the powered monitor blows, the whole she bang (whole enchilada) is useless. The OP wants to be able to swap out a replacement amp easily and be back up and running. He shared a photo of his set up. Does anyone else see the air space in the stands for his current Adam monitors? I know you all do. So can we please recommend something passive that has woofers that will fill that space of dead air with a driver that will produce fuller bass?

Sounds reasonable. These two speakers are good. A little over robithinker's budget but Black Friday is coming soon so who knows maybe they can be had at a discounted price then::)

Plus an amp hopefully discounted price on the same Black Friday.

The above mentioned ones? They have slightly different styles and looks. Mofi has a classic look. Arendal looks a bit more modern.

C‘mon guys, it‘s the window front. You won‘t block it with massive speakers, that are not needed. If I read the initial post correctly a pair of white asciLab or KEF R3 would suffice, supported by small-ish subs left/right.

If TS can imagine subwoofers, then sure, but he hasn't said anything about that (I may have missed it in that case).

Edit:
Just for inspiration and ideas::)

A lot of DIY there and I know that not everyone has the time, opportunity, desire or interest to tinker with such solutions, but some pictures can be fun to look at.:)

Apologies for not responding more. The past week turned extremely busy.

Thank you all for the feedback. Those asciLab frequency response numbers from Erinsaudiocorner are crazy good. They're just completely sold out. Generally speaking, a subwoofer might be possible. I'm considering moving the tv to the wall to the right of where it is now, but leaving the speakers in their current location. This would mean that i would have to buy a soundbar for the TV because it would no longer be between the main speakers. My wife would like to move it, as she doesn't like the black rectangle in the center of the window, and because we rarely use our den area for entertaining (we usually sit with guests at the dining table).

There is a pair of floor model Wharfedale Elysian 2's on sale for 3800 Francs (from 5500). Nice looking speaker but I haven't heard any Wharfedales in my life, so need to go demo them before they're sold.

Ime the kef ls60 is very close to monitoring speakers in sound signature. Looks lovely too. 104 cm heigh. They're often priced at 4500 or thereabouts.

Kef R3 is very easy on the eyes too.

Don’t let the bad experiences with adam active speakers lead you to a passive setup.

That would be great. Do you know when?

What I know from reading ASR. There may be others for different geographic zones.
