MOTU UltraLite-mk5 Review (Audio Interface)

Any complaints about compatibility with M2 Macs? Read some comments in Amazon reviews about clicks every 5mins while recording (cant tell if its valid anyways)

So I have a lot of synths that I'd like all connected to the Mk5 but 8 channels on this unit isn't enough.
What's the best way to add an additional 4-8 channels input into the Mk5 utilizing the ADAT channels from CueMix?
Purchase another interface or preamp with ADAT out?

Just now I ordered this bad boy and will sell my Steinberg UR22 MK2 and SMSL SU-9N. I thought I would use all that gimmicks from the SMSL like NOS Filter or sound simulation but nope, I am using the lowest distortion filter and no sound simulation at all.

Therefore I am going to sell those things and have one of the most reliable DACs in existence. Also the mic input might come in handy for REW and DAWs.
Also with E-APO and amps you can activate speakers up to a stereo set of 4-way-speakers. Tempting. x)

I bought the MOTU UltraLite-mk5 interface a couple of weeks ago. I have been it using with the Cambridge Dual phono preamp and my VPI Scoutmaster turntable to record my old collectable vinyl LPs. The MOTU sounds great. Hooking it up to my stereo, I can't hear much of a difference between the MOTU and my Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC. I will be using the MOTU in the future for home recording.

Can someone confirm that UL5 takes a few seconds to lock the sample rate when playing music of different sample rate under ASIO driver? My other dacs don’t have this problem.

Can someone tell me wether the hardware DSP EQ is saved on the interface or only in CueMix?

Thank you! I am thinking about ditching my Denon receiver if I could just apply a very rough room calibration via the DSP, so even if it is very archaic it would be better than nothing.

It can’t do any LPF, so…

But it has four EQs right?

Most audio interfaces (supposed to be more of recording than playback devices) work like that, just tested with an UAD interface and it's the same, even if I think that Audient is faster (got about half a second or less).
When one doesn't need any input, but only multi-outputs, I think that the Topping DM7 might be the best choice

Yah, i guess so. Dm7 would be good but Inneed more than 8 outputs. Haven’t figured out a way to clock sync two dm7.

Ok MOTU support just told me that only multiple stereo outputs are possible. A selectable surround device for windows 11 isn't possible atm.
You can't tell me this can't be enabled with a few pines of code though. This device even has an FPGA.

:(

They said it's a pending request though, so I am not the first one who asked.
Edit: Okay, gonna send it back. Hoped it would be a nice multichannel DAC, but this part was not thought through.

A member in another thread noted that as well for his MOTU for use with Windows, and he was a little miffed when the MOTU support said differently and he bought the device. In the end he bought a RME audio interface that allows this and was quite happy.

I asked before. They basically said not possible. Never promised anything. I think it has something to do with their lineup. UL5 will never handle as much as ultralite AVB. I am thinking about switching to topping dm7. Without being able to have windows recognize the interface as multichannel sound card, using REW is a pain in the ass.

Which one?

Is the AVB able to do that?

OK, didn't see you need more than 8 channels.
I don't know if it can be done with a mod, but the first is that I even don't know how two DM7 would be recognized by the same computer... not sure if the driver is able to handle this case
