You need some device on the same network to send the commands based on some triggering input, but it needn't be a PC. The one I suggested would use a cheap, common hobbyist IoT development board with a WiFi connection, and volume buttons or a knob, but there are many other ways it could be done. Writing a plugin for one of the home automation systems like FHEM or OpenHAB would let you control it with something off the shelf that works with them like one of Ikea's smart home remotes. A phone app would be another option.What I meant is... how this API would work? I need a PC connected to the same network of the AVB to control volume?
The API looks like it gives pretty much full control as you would have using the AVB's browser-based mixer, but you can send whatever mix of commands you want to, so you could have your volume control change channels 1,2,5,8 and 9 if you wanted.
