Just wondering what people find the most comfortable headphones? I am not a big fan of headphones generally. I do not like pressure on my ears or scalp in any significant way. The best I have tried so far (admittedly a limited range) has been Sennheiser HD25 headphones, but still there is some pressure on the scalp and ears that I would like the alleviate. I am relatively static when listening (don't listen outdoors or exercising) so don't need much pressure to keep the phones on my head.

Short of using in-ear buds (which I find have their own comfort issues), what have you found the most comfortable headphones in use?

Jesus! , The HD25 is a DJ headphone with a clamp force somewhat akin to a hydraulic press, I owned/used various pairs for Dj’ing years ago but I’d never choose to wear them otherwise.

My sennheiser HD490 are supremely comfortable but they’re open back.

Sennheiser 800 series hands down .

My audeze Maxwell aren't light but very comfy

If they fit your ears the dan Clark Aeon series are nice .

I think my experience is solely with DJing type headphones, so perhaps this is how I formed my general dislike of headphones.

As nice as these look, my personal limit for phones is about £300, preferably somewhere in the 200s. Out of interest, regarding comfort, did you try these before you bought them or just relied on reviews?

Dan Clark phones are great for comfort! Deep cups that can swallow the ear without pressure, and still stay relatively attached to your head.

Blind buys . But yes ideally would try on first. Easy no quibble returns from Amazon etc remove some of that risk of course . The 800s were second hand ebay but luckily we're so big and light that even the BFG couldn't complain about the comfort .

Sennheiser HD490 Pro and Aune AR5000. These are both openbacks though. If you want a comfortable closedback, then maybe try out the Sony MDR-M1.
