Yes, shape does not matter. Every enclosed space of whatever shape has standing waves (aka "room modes"), and DSP can knock them down after their frequencies are determined (by measurements). Furthermore the number of such modes in a given frequency range is largely determined just by the interior volume (this is the Weyl Law).

Back in the 90s, I always thought the Royd Albion stand mounted speakers were nicely designed:

Admittedly, I no longer care for the Cherrywood or Beachwood type woods that were popular back then. But still, I think these are pretty easy on the eye.

I remember being told that the designer was attempting to design “Quads in a nice size box speaker.” I remember they sounded quite vivid and transparent (though a little on the dry side).

Anyone else familiar with these loudspeakers?

I like the clean looks of the speaker.
But -you know?- the stands may have been a great design exercise, but that round, black prop sez 'design flaw'!
