Don't say you shouldn't, I like the older style speakers as well (at least with the grill on). If I had a slightly bigger and less reflective room to put them in I'd probably aim for Wharfedale Lintons or Super Lintons for that reason. Unfortunately my listening room is my small and asymmetric bedroom, so I'd want slightly narrower dispersion (probably Kef Q series) if I was to replace my current speakers.

Variations of your comment appear periodically in this thread. I’d estimate about every 20 pages.
You could also simply ask the question: Can a speaker even be beautiful? And probably 90% of people would argue that a speaker isn’t beautiful in and of itself.
You have to have a certain affinity for audio to even ask what constitutes the beauty of a loudspeaker.
And within this small splinter group of humanity, there is no general consensus on what constitutes a beautiful loudspeaker.
Some prefer large cabinets with visible drivers and wood veneer, while others prefer slim, lacquered speakers with grilles.
Some love large horns, while others regularly feel, upon seeing them, as if they were staring someone in the butt.
So yes: It’s Schrödinger’s title, because every speaker here is both beautiful and ugly at the same time—just not to the same person.

No. If you want to know if a speaker actually is beautiful, and not just an object of lust (which seems to so often increase with ostentation, exclusivity and unobtainability), then ask a field of non-audio people if they would install it in a room purely as a decoration or adornment, not hooked up to play audio, of if they would rather see it moved out.

I doubt if a single speaker shown to date would pass that unbiased test of beauty.
