Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Alto’s look a lot like Ascilab with wood veneer.

Not at all a bad price. They’re active, use expensive Purifi drivers, N-core amps and the designer knows a thing or two.

And they are a simple and elegant design.

That in itself seems to be rare now. Thumbs up from me.

Actually that’s about 8 grand in English moneys. Twice as much as March Audios offering and twice as much as the Clarity 6.2.

Say a good pre amp is a grand so that’s £9000.

The Ascilabs, Clarity’s and March Audio will need a good pre/power or integrated which can run high.

Much better looking than both imo. But perhaps not £2000 better :cool:

But if I didn’t cry at losing the cash, I’d pay it for the better looks.

Somebody posted this system on Reddit that they apparently just bought some old system.

Apparently, the speakers are the Star Sound Caravelles. “The stands are designed and integral to the sound of the speakers.”

I have never seen uglier speaker stands in my life. They look forged in a nightmare:

Bloody hell! They are truly defining ugly.

What possessed anyone to think making these was a good idea? What appalling nightmare drugs were they on??

A column would be fine.
Their stand is too "spidery" or "webby" for most living rooms with spouses......
 
Because the input signal (i.e. the "Live" sound) has no phase-time distortions!!
Wrong. Strings are closer to the listeners than wodwinds, brass are even farther, and the farthest are percussions - if the recording was done with stereo pair of mics in front of the orchestra. If the recording was done with close-mic technique, then again there are time differences, depending on how far is microphone from each instrument (or group of instruments).

At first glance(prima vista) it is “wrong”!
It is not about distances between the individual instruments and possibly vocals – which form the Scene(stereo space and positioning) before and during the recording.
This is the task of a the sound director.
We are talking about the general (mixed) signal! The character of its finished contents has an original (unrepeatable) Time Continuum – which is distorted “slightly” by all crossovers higher than the first order and incl. by inaccurate (random) distances between acoustic centers of the drivers in the speakers!!
The restoration of the good priority in the Time Domain of “His Majesty” – the INPUT SIGNAL, can only be done with DSP or a similar method of this Technology!!!

Or you can choose a speaker with a Manger transducer or a coaxial speaker or a full-range speaker.

Manger is a very good and unique (for itself) driver! But reinforced from below - the design carries the problematic features of all two-way speakers.
Coaxial "point source" - may have a bad Time Domain!!
Perfect for Phase and Time remains the appropriate special Fullrange.....

P.S. Tannoy Cheviot has "almost" the necessary distance between its Acoustic Centers for good Timing. But it also needs new special crossovers.

Gads!! My grandmother as a professional dressmaker during the Depression era and had a sewing machine exactly like that Singer.
I hope your grandmother’s had a pulley belt. And a needle.

My wife collects old machines and i got stuck refurbishing them. That’s a model 15. First modern machine. There are still machines being made that use the same bobbin. I’ve never seen an old one that didn’t work.

Singer said they’d last a hundred years. He was wrong. They never wear out.

Piccolo and bass-drum may be in the same line, so no left-right stereo difference whatsoever - only the time difference!

Time difference between piccolo and tuba (because of the layout of the symphony orchestra) is huge compared to tweeter-midbass time difference.

If we are talking about dividing the recorded signal in two (or more) frequency bands because of the loudspeaker crossover, - human auditory system is not so sensitive to slight difference in time arrivals form acoustic centers in loudspeakers.

I tried to explain the problem with crossovers higher than the first order.
Whoever is not interested in a good Step Response - I will not wake him up forcibly!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and position.

It's about mathematical and physical knowledge!

Diverting attention in another direction will not give a better Scene, Accurate Details, Explosive Attack - like live,
if they are present in the input signal (here I agree with you).

Humm, well my grandmother used to complain a lot about the bobbin thread breaking.

Audio science (which use math and physics knowledge) was interested if good step response is beneficial in loudspeaker reproduction. After many blind listening tests, no success so far. I will call it day.
Science don't care about anyone opinion, if it is not backed by facts and evidences. No evidences so far that perfect step response is necessary in loudspeakers.

There is no evidence that perfect step response is necessary for excellent loudspeaker performance, but that does not prove that temporal behavior is irrelevant.
