Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Brittany isn't particularly built up to begin with—I've been there many times and have always rented a house by the sea for my summer vacations.
There are no highways there, just national roads.
But even so, the statement is probably true, because a busy road is always a nuisance for a company that deals with acoustics.
In the mid 1970s I worked in R&D at Garrard who made record decks.
The R&D department was on the 4th floor of the building with the works car park between it and the road but one could not get consistent rumble recordings from a record player on the lab bench because it picked up the vibration of busses drivingby.

It was one of the first tasks I was given (as a test) and the only way to get consistent data from almost all record players we evaluated was on a big concrete block suspended on angled springs to isolate it.
I found the low level reverb added by this in the audio band to be euphonic but that is a different story.

I grew up in an old house with very springy floors. The only way to play records was to hang the player from the ceiling with twine.

That’s likely why old idler drive turntables are still favored by many audiophiles, today.

???
I didn't find idler TTs to have more sensitivity to external vibration than belt or direct. The difference is entirely the isolation system, which varies hugely from completely rubbish on most turntables to almost adequate on a few.

I was referring to rumble, which I was always under the impression had higher rumble numbers. I could be wrong.

In the early 1980s I had a Kenwood (Trio) KD500 DD turntable. It had zero isolation and would feedback horribly at higher playback levels. I ended up floating a high mass platform on a low pressure (1 to 5 psi) air bag. This worked extremely well.

Oh I see, why?
The discussion was about noise and vibration influencing the accuracy of measurement.

Rumble on its own is easiest to minimise with direct drive but vibration sensitivity - it doesn't need to be enough for obvious howl-round is much more difficult to get good, and most systems do not.
Even at low level there is basically a bit of added reverb, ie sound picked up mechanically or acoustically and then added with a small delay due to the length of the sound path of the vibration or acoustic excitation.

Having been aware of the problem for years when I could I located my turntable outside the listening room, guaranteeing no coupling. I was disappointed to find I liked it less - ie I must enjoy the added reverb - maybe everybody does - a surprising number of people like the sound a record deck makes, or should I say adds?

That’s not real is it?
AI joke?

As I’ve said before, I think the poster boy for
“ cheap screws ruining the look of otherwise beautiful speakers” are the Devore Super Nine speakers:

It’s the equivalent of a beautiful woman with syphilis scars.

You really got me self doubting enough to switch out screws.

A loudspeaker and a lamp in iconic format from Jeff Koons and Lexon:

Every desk needs one of each. The light employs many LEDs not actual neon tubes, which may disappoint traditionalists. And is the loudspeaker still active if the dog doesn't hunt? :)

B&O's new outdoor speaker - the Haven.
I knew the B&O speakers reminded me of something: the Cabasse Baltic 1, which had been using this marvel of a three way coaxial driver in a pocket since 1993.

Don't know why, but they're beautiful to me, minimalistic and futuristic

This post is from November 1, 2020.
That was 2,023 days ago. If you had set aside 2.60 euros or dollars every day, you’d be listening to this speaker right now. Sometimes it’s worth having a goal and saving up for it, if necessary.

I think the LD Systems MAUI P900 G is pretty cool right now, both in terms of sound and looks. It's the same company that makes the Palmer Orbit 11.

AND it's also pretty reasonably priced for something that looks as cool as that! $8699 AUD. That website doesn't say if the price is for one speaker or a pair, but since it's a pro audio website my guess is that it's for one speaker.

Definitely one, unfortunately.

Not a fan of this one.

Looks to me like a food thermometer by way of Claes Oldenburg :-)

My daughter is a design engineer now, and when she was a kid and a teenager, she used to draw all over my things, which I didn't always really like—but I never said anything, because she is my daughter, after all.
That reminds me of it.
