Those are reproduction RCA "Ubangi" low frequency horns with wooden replicas of old Altec sectoral HF horns. While I personally wouldn't want to own them, I agree, they make the world a little better place to live in.Whatever old speakers these are, this set up warms my heart. I would love to hear these things in this room:
OOF! I know these speakers are marvels of engineering, but yikes! I believe the expression is something to the effect of putting lipstick on a pig?

I have seen posts on this thread of that design. I assumed the lower portion with the round ports were for the upper horn-loaded portion. Seeing your back side image, how are the upper and lower related in this speaker design?
The compression horn seems to be an Onken MS-200 Wood (Replica ?). I've heard lots of compression driver fans saying it's the best horn ever made, don't know if there are any measurments available :Those are reproduction RCA "Ubangi" low frequency horns with wooden replicas of old Altec sectoral HF horns. What can one say about this?I've heard lots of compression driver fans saying it's the best horn ever made, don't know if there are any measurments available.
Totally agreed, that's why i'd be curious to see measurments of those. What can one say about this?
That it always comes down to the intended use and how well a speaker fits the space in which it is used.
I think there are enthusiasts who make such claims, because it is really an eyecatcher, but I doubt they are following ASR guidelines, because from a purely technical standpoint, there are now horns available that guarantee more uniform sound dispersion.
