Looks like they do have top covers, this one in black-coated stainless steel mesh should keep the bugs out.

Sadly for my interior decorating budget, the standard model has increased from AU$90K years ago to 'if you have to ask ...' (or US$211K plus the usual Oz markups) so who knows what for these so-called Ateliers.

This is for flower pots and glasses of drinks.
Note the raised edge at the front.

It prevents spilled liquids from running onto the baffle.
