Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

I think I get what you mean. Big speakers are definitely furniture and call attention both. Which is why we must find the best compromise according to our desires and situation. We all want good sound, that's a given, but a big chunky piece in our rooms we find ugly in the end... that's not it.

Gladly the market is big. There's nice stuff for everyone. Personally I really like popping colours to lighten up a room, so I got these that just so happen to be good speakers too ( ;) ) - for cheap.

(Looks much better in person ofc, especially in sunlight and at dawn)
In a sane world, someone would post the JBL Paragon, and the thread would be done.

Those look great!

I’m also glad that the market is big enough that there’s a nice range of loudspeakers that both sound and look really nice.

A big speaker from the 50s, and calling it done? I call that insanity. :p
The thread calls for the most beautiful. I’d be willing to put the Paragon up against any five speakers on this thread, to be voted on by a thousand professional designers.

I'm certainly not a professional designer, but my opinion is as good as any: it's butt ugly. I mean, it's so ugly, it's almost funny again like a sad mutant robot or something. :D

What the hell is that even?

"Form follows function" in all honours, but really? This? Hehehe

As you can see in posts above, the Paragon is no universal standard of beauty, but you might've been thinking of the Metregon? I would give that one a nod for some rooms.

Obviously.
Sorry... I couldn't resist. I happen to love the Paragon, I can understand not appreciating its mid century aesthetic.

This thread has been a real eye opener as to what average Joes... mostly Joes at least think is beautiful or not.

I have always really liked the look of the Paragon as well!

I’ve never heard them though, and I would love to!

In my opinion, they sound pretty rough. I have heard the original plywood version with the high sensitivity 150-4C woofers and the later more common particle board Paragons with the LE15A woofers... they both lack a deep low end and have a pretty rough SQ, but they have a following.

Wow man. A healthy dose of humility could do you good. That really came over as if you're superior to the average Joe. This is a thread about taste, and everyone's opinion is valid, naturally.

I would too. My father had split M44s Paragons with standard JBL drivers and an M45 Metregon. The Metregons were fitted with Tannoy woofers and Jensen horns. Absolutely wonderful sound, both were rosewood high gloss lacquer finish.

He used WE 116A valve amps in another console with 3 McIntosh C-104. He was also a huge fan of Thoren TD 134, 135, 184, and eventually 124 I. He had the Typical reel-to-reel he bought at the PX. Roberts that was set up for 3.25, 7.5, and 15ips 1/4" tape. You could buy RtR (M2s Copy from a master) at the PX for 2-3.00.

Wonderful sound that was made for basically a big empty room and a hardwood dance floor. They used to pitch down salt after my mother would wax the floor and invite the neighbors over for a BBQ/Dance. Man, oh man, could my mother and father shake a leg. There would be 30-40 people over. Around 1963-1964.

Regards

I have almost the opposite impression.
This thread covers the entire spectrum of speaker design—and even speakers that I find absolutely ugly have their advocates.
The reverse is also true—some people find speakers that I think are really well designed to be quite strange.

I wouldn't be able to determine something like an average taste from this mélange of different tastes.

To do that, you would need a statistically evaluable assessment.
