I was able to visit the manufacturing workshop near my home and then listen to them at different listening points, which was a wonderful experience...

My friend has a pair of JBL M2's that his wife does not like for aesthetic reasons. I suggested that he repaint the front and veneer the sides. The original is on the left, and the AI generated image that my friend created is on the right. What do you think? Is it an improvement?
The AI version is much better

That depends greatly on the environment—and on his wife.

I don't know his wife. But he likes a minimalist aesthetic. If I recall, his house is fairly sparsely furnished with a lot of polished concrete.

I think the white/veneer version softens the look considerably. I didn't like the JBL M2's - I can admire them on an intellectual level, and I am sure sound quite good (I have never heard them) ... but those black things in my home? No thanks. I suggested that my friend send JBL those photos. They might sell a few more speakers if they didn't look like a prop from Darth Vader's bedroom.

I don't think the M2 is that bad. They probably have about the same WAF as your speakers. It's not easy to integrate really large speakers into your living room.
I always had huge towers and then switched to 8-inch PA coaxial speakers with an 18-inch subwoofer in my living room.

In white and with wood, however, they should integrate better into most living environments—better than the large JBL monitors above my post, anyway. With those, you have to design everything else around them.

These are funky. "Why do you have random doors standing around?" :D
In fact, having the DP107 model myself, most of the people visiting us think these panels are heating devices, at first sight at least.
After hearing the sound they produce comes the shock :p
