Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Admittedly, there are some woods over which I would prefer synthetic materials.

Don’t give me anything oak (scars from having grown up in the 70s)

Or anything Cherrywood (scars from furniture/decor shopping through the 90s)
Yeah well. You shouldn't come here then with your PTSD, sorry mate. I have an old subwoofer here in beautiful Eiche brutal, plus some really nice red cherry Canton bookshelves.

My room is your nightmare. :D

Hmm pulp fiction ” are you an oak man ” ( summary to follow forum rules , famous scene from pulp fiction where mr wolf ask’s are you an oak man )

My room is your nightmare. :D

My own kitchen is my nightmare. We chose the wood for the cabinets in the 90s. I think it was “pear” or something but looks like cherry. It was the first room in the house we renovated when we bought it, and now…yuck! The idea of going through that renovation again, though is a bit too daunting.

These are rumoured to be the last things standing after a nuclear war

Extremely hard “ no” from me, dog.

But hey, this thread is about different tastes
:-)

Oft-ignored subject/topic of music in the kitchen and/or cooking with music.
  • Jazz for a smooth flavor
  • Blues for some smoky depth
  • Metal for an edgy bite
  • Grunge for a gritty texture
  • R&B for silky undertones
  • Punk for some spunk
  • Funk for groovy richness
  • Reggae for some herbal warmth
  • Ambient for airy lightness
  • Bluegrass for earthy warmth
  • Dub for heavy subs

I would always play funk when making brownies! :D

Nice! I keep eyeing these. They keep popping up for 800-1000 here in classified ads, tempting.

How do you like them so far?
They came up for a good price here in Australia. I thought they were ex-demo but turns out they were brand new and the box had been slightly damaged (speakers completely unharmed though).
I'm really enjoying them. Completely subjectively, they are just easy to listen to
In some ways they are a relief after chasing and listening to really good systems. By that I mean, I don't expect them to go really deep or super loud or be the last word in direct or off-axis response (although they do measure quite well). In a strange way, because my expectations are a bit lower I find myself able to just enjoy the music.

Also, I've always been completely dumbfounded at the price of similar "two drivers in a wide box" speakers - think DeVore or Audio Note. These were about the price you'd reasonably expect to pay for this sort of design, so there's some satisfaction in feeling that I haven't been ripped off

That's exactly the reason why brands like Heco have never been taken seriously in "high end" circles. Their flagship models are a mere 3000 the pair. Ridiculous! Must be cheap shit and can't possibly sound good.

That guy made his own drivers. They were pretty to look at, in an antique sort of way. Seemed to be well built, but didn't sound like more than something akin to a BT jukebox. Not a point-source design, but sound was at least okay.

Just popped up in my mind, when Marten started with carbon fiber cabinet - the prototypes was made from sailing boat masts
And the shipyard they bought it from became their carbon cabinet supplier
