I don't mind the "eye", but their stands are ugly af. Can't they come up with something less "busy"? Plus, we need someone to do measurements on stuff like this. I listened to the Devialets and was thoroughly unimpressed.

When i talked to Christophe Cabasse about La Sphere way back he said the pattern was made to minimize vibrations.
True or sales talk who knows, one thing that is true is that Cabasse most the time chooses function over design.

Just look at Atlantis, Adriatis, Baltic, Kara, goal was to have a full range source point.
La Sphere was the first to achive it.

Also they where probably on of the first in EU to ha have a anechoic chamber as far back as the 70:s
One of the reasons said for moving in the beginning of 2000 was a newly built highway that interfered with low frequency measurements.

I have listen to them all in home inveriment and i was not disapointed.

As I have repeatedly pointed out, I have always been concerned about the physical stability of these slim tall-boy type SPs against the lateral vibrations (i.e. horizontal shaking) caused by earthquakes.

Just for example, in my post here, I wrote as follows;
Many people are living in diastrophism countries/areas .... including myself in Japan, and I am (we are) always much concerned about the physical stability of these tall-boy type speakers especially against lateral vibration (i.e. horizontal shaking) given by an earthquake.
1. The heavier the total weight,
2. The lower the height of gravity-center from the supporting base,
3. The wider the surface area of the supporting base (area covered by the supporting spikes/legs), "the better" the stability against lateral vibration.

We can usually find/calculate on the catalog (or on spec-sheet) total weight and supporting base area, but we do not always know the height of gravity center; we need to speculate/guess the height of the gravity center.

While that seems reasonable - if you look past the curves you can see that it's really just a network of trusses. I would have preferred if he said it was "a weight-efficient design for the stiffness and strength needed". Whether the degree of curvature of the truss members did much to reduce transmitted vibration is harder to predict. Maybe they did some FEA work to back that up. I suspect they said, "let's make something that looks good but also follows the desired function," but in the end it just doesn't look all that great.

Only thing i know is that they tried different designs but did reach the figures they wanted, until the "thing" they use today.
Imo La sphere looks awful but Really good sounding.

The pic i posted a couple of pages back, it is not easy to see but listening position is ~6 met from the speakers.
Even at that distance the levels they can reach are impressive, still clear sounding with a huge sound stage.
