They need to make a grill just for the surrounds ;)

There are several examples of irregular surrounds, such as here from Fyne Audio and 18sound.

But something as irregular as Purifi's is a real visual challenge.

I can see the advantages of an irregular surround structure, but I can't imagine the technical implementation being easy in terms of a clean mechanical realization.

These surrounds (Purifi?) may offer acoustic and measurement advantages, but they are ugly as hell and remind me of the Alps, Rocky Mountains or Andes seen from above.

I’m going to put in a word jet again for the Thiel 2.7s in ebony (that I own… I prefer them with the grills on):

Here are the 3.7s in a limited Gibson sunburst finish:
Quite interesting drivers...

It's rather interesting how the vibrations are transferred to the corrugated aluminium membrane and the wavy membrane. The transfer of vibrations to the woofer is not so different from what Sony and other Japanese companies were doing in the 1980s. I recall a particular group of people experimenting with a corrugated aluminium membrane made from food packaging a few years ago, achieving quite good results. There is a YouTube video available somewhere.
