Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Yeah I guess it can be hard getting one of these unless you live in Sweden. Only way of buying them new either prebuilt or as a kit is by calling the Ingvar yourself and then travel to him both getting a demo (where you come to his demo room with him talking about them, how you set them up yada yada) and then getting the speakers, so yeah not too easy at all. So used is a bit easier but probably still quite hard since most of them will be in Sweden and I guess most people don't want to send them abroad.

What is probably easier is to get the commercialised sibling, namely the Guru Junior. It's supposedly almost the same speaker but with a few obvious differences. I bet they do measure and sound a bit differently but afaik these Gurus still hold up really good from what I've read! They do look really nice as well (at least the one to the right imo) :)

Yeah, read somewhere about Ingvar only selling the speakers/DIY kits to those who visit him in person. Always nice to have a talk with a knowledgeable person, but quite a distance to travel as I'm not that close to Sweden )

As for the speakers - I pretty much prefer the somewhat "old school" looks of the PiP, Junior is too modenistic/minimalistic for me

The cheapest one can be bought without a visit (piP), but since everything else is quite a bit more expensive and with a waiting time it's better to know what you're paying for.
I also own LTS DIY floorstanders (Ohman design), the low end is absolutely brutal. Most don't know what they're missing from their records. Not suitable for anyone with neighbors

My interest lies in the convex honeycomb panel of those speakers, rather than the box itself. I read the Coltrane website, lot of sugar coating. I am familiar with the sound of the flat honeycomb panel, so I must try to create the convex one someday. All five drivers in that Coltrane are convex, by the way. Have you noticed that the honeycomb drivers don't have a surround?

I spy some SEAS bass and midrange drivers in there... not sure about the tweeter though
I have a 50 page pdf document detailing how they work and how they can be put together, just haven't had the time to read a lot. Guru midrange and tweeter are better though, offers more detail and the songs I've compared singing flows out more

honeycomb-core.jpg

It is a tiny standalone full-range flat panel speaker that doesn't have an exciter or a transducer. It features a flattened coil and a round neodymium magnet positioned a few millimetres away from the coil. The frame is still in its rough stage, and the entire assembly can be covered with a "designer" sound-immune cover. Naturally, it has a honeycomb core, with paper covering that core, ensuring the sound is natural.

These tiny cells in the honeycomb can be considered as separate tiny panels with air enclosed within them, and that air vibrates inside, causing the tiny covers to vibrate. Thus, the entire honeycomb panel functions as an orchestra of tiny enclosed volumes.

It seems that the most important part is the baffle that holds the five speakers; the rest is...well?
The rest of the speaker?
