Another case of my old quote:
Another case of my old quote:
A lot of Baltic birch plywood died to make those!
Lovely craftsmanship, though.![]()
like that cone and that pinpoint. The cone surface area within the coil former would behave quite differently than the often-used "dust cap" producing high frequencies.
The amount of trouble people take to harness the "troublesome" back sound and direct it forward! The designer goes to such lengths to create channels inside the box to collect that sound and send it out through openings larger than the cone area itself.
I'm waiting for a speaker with an akrapovic exhaust. The amount of trouble people take to harness the "troublesome" back sound and direct it forward! At least they look far more interesting than 95% of the rectangular boxes.
And technically they are state of the art, including the latest calibration to the room and listening position. A loudspeaker that can make itself acoustically invisible through calculation.
I wouldn't spend 160,000 dollars on loudspeakers, but I have no doubt that they are worth it.
DIY guy Troels Graveson has made some really nice speakers, especially this one which was inspired by the Magico Mini, though I like Troel’s stand design better.
Unfortunately, there aren’t great pictures of the speaker, though there is a YouTube video on the making of the speaker:

Usually I'm just too lazy, but I'll try harder in the future@Pearljam5000 , I like the beautiful pictures, but could you kindly include the model in your posts as well?![]()
They sound magnificent with a bit of EQ, but I personally prefer the .1 and .2 models. They feel more well-rounded and come with fewer design compromises compared to the original Kappas. That's probably not what a Infinity purist would tell you though..The infinity kappa 9’s are lovely.
I was blessed to see and hear them the last 2 weekends…
Remember they are 6’ tall !!!!!
Bass is deep, mid bass present, highs are there without calling attention to themselves (surprising), but I heard a lack of haaa on exhale.
Someone here measured a 8.5db dip near 5khz, that might be what I heard…….
I am not sure one can call it the most beautiful
Hardly anyone would consider that beautiful. But surely they have some other strengths. Some kind of killer feature? Certainly something unlike anything else in the world (so-called "analo-govnet"). Maybe they can bomb civilians with sound or something like that? Not beautiful
