The last paragraph is the most telling always in JAs measurement summaries/opinion. Admitting he is "puzzled" after projecting some decent-ish adjectives means he probably would not personally consider these in a zillion years.

The last edition of Stereophile was quite entertaining in his final paragraph with two of the reviews.

Beautiful, or beautiful art. Or in these cases a specific architectural style. If you consider it to be beautiful, then surely this speaker fits in here.

On the topic of beautiful speakers and art. This speaker is a custom speaker from the late 40s. It is most likely a JBL and the woofer was either replaced or reconed in the color photo.

I am sure the placement of the horn and woofer were picked by the owner or his architect and based solely on aesthetics and not directivity

I love that speaker as well. I wonder though since the house was started in the late forties and completed in 1950. I was thinking it was using these JBL drivers from JBL's 1948 catalog.

I am generally not a fan of Brutalism in architecture, but I actually like that speaker... purely as sculpture. I'm not as swayed by their other designs.

I suppose it could be taken that way, but the intent of my post was to show that an audiophile's equipment can range from the most simple to the most complex... nothing more was meant to be implied.

My GF banished my Everests stating that they were Art Deco and she didn't want that style in her living room... I was sad to let them go, but I made the right decision. She was the keeper.

I agree with that.

One might suspect that modern interior design styles will influence how wireless speakers will be designed. Or rather, they already do.
Then we'll see how many speakers blend in with trends for 2024 or, since this year is almost over, will blend in with next year's interior design trends.
