Most Beautiful Songs - 1960 - 1979

Timothy B. Schmidt, I Can't Tell You Why (1979)

FWIW (which, admittedly, ain't much), I gave serious consideration to post Desperado -- also Peaceful Easy Feeling, of which I quite like the sound of the guitar intro and there are some nice harmonies to be heard. I only didn't due to their massive popularity, which isn't meant as a dig at all, just a qualifier I elected to employ. ;)

I'll see your Sara Smile and raise you a When the Morning Comes. ;)

(my own personal favorite Hall & Oates song, FWIW -- which, admittedly, ain't much)
NOT a huge Hall and Oates fan, sort of love hate. You nailed the love side, If it's Hall and Oates that's my go to, a diamond in a band that slowly shifted from blue eyed soul to another 80s corporate hit machine.

Bill Evans, "Spring is Here", 1960:

Speaking of Lisa Loeb. Her Do You Sleep would qualify as beautiful from my perspective.

And thinking about Lisa Loeb and the mid-90s put me to mind of Heather Nova. She's probably an acquired taste, but as I sit here this evening, I'd posit that her song Truth and Bone evokes the B-word. At least for me. :)

But she's a 90's artist. And this thread is about 1960-1979.

oh, shoot! I really am sorry! Posting while distracted.
Deleted -- I'll put 'em on the other thread, though, I think.

Originally done by Leon Russell in 1972, I'll take George Benson's 1976 version of This Masquerade

Another Leon Russell song from 1971, but I'll take Ray Charles's version of A Song For You

Yeah, a lot of songs came to my mind that sonically/musically fit into this timezone. Sorry if I'm being uptight, the important thing is music is being shared.

No need to apologize for (or in) your own thread! ;)
I was spread too thin yesterday and forgot where I was -- it's all taken care of. :)
Here's a beautiful song of the right era. Pete Townshend's demo version of Behind Blue Eyes.
Best of all -- in the liner notes for Scoop (or whichever of the "Scoop" series it was on...), Big T reported that, when he finished the demo, his erstswhile wife, Karen Astley, heard it from the kitchen and reported that she liked it! I wonder if Townshend asked her about audio cables from the kitchen when he was swapping gear? ;)

perhaps (??) his most beautiful 'OO-era song, demo style:
The Song is Over

The 'orrible 'OO (as Daltrey called them, at least once, in an interview) might have even improved this one when they got their mitts on it. :)

Mr. Towshend playin' that Gretsch "Chet Atkins" guitar that Joe Walsh gave him -- and which defined his guitar sound in those days.
Now that was beautiful.
