More on Lenbrook's plans for MQA

Even if it made the sound higher quality, would it improve the music?

If it made the sound quality higher then it achieves its goal. Improving music is something for the subjective domain.

So -- how does one pronounce QRONO? Is that two syllables -- the first being... umm... "Q"?

"Expect to see FOQUZ in leading professional studio gear..." No thanks, I don't think I will expect to see that. :)
ESS Technology is probably the first semiconductor company to offer an ADC with FOQUS: Link

Remember:
FOQUS comes to market in partnership with semiconductor companies who specialise in audio chips.

I have to be honest, I was ready to start building a BluOS system to replace my Sonos gear and all this is turning me off to Bluesound and NAD as a whole. I thought the only thing of value that came out of the wreckage of MQA the company was their potential new wireless codec but I guess that hasn't panned out. This is almost double because they're using the same outlets like Stereophile that were so friendly to MQA in the first place for this round of nonsense.

The key thing is will and ADC with FOQUS solve any existing problems and generate a sufficient rate of return on the purchase? Nothing to do with audiophiles, this is question for professionals and their accountants.

The new plug-ins seem to be well received in the studio sector: Link
Sorry Pogo but using the same people who failed to impress anybody with their support of MQA aren’t going to impress the people Lenbrook need to impress.

In any case if you read the bottom of the article, it is just regurgitated stuff from Lenbrook.

FOQUS? Eh, Foq this.

The Whitepaper provides a rough overview of how the new plug-ins work: Link
So, it looks like the whole thing is using a DAC filter that doesn't have any pre-ringing.

But I thought we found out (kicking and screaming in some cases) that pre-ringing is not as bad as it looks from listening to MP3s? And it looks like Archimago debunked this 7 years ago.

What's old is new again, I guess. It's a little sad that they're basically just rehashing the same crap Meridian was apparently doing back in 2009.

I would have to dispute the idea that this article constitutes acceptance or approval in the industry. It's just a reposted press release.

There are may points I'd like to underline / enbold, but... the 7-years-ago thing of Archimago still stands out proud.

I think history is being rewritten right now.
Archimago has probably not done itself any favors by judging new technologies this year without understanding how they work.

It will be interesting to see how this comment ages as more information becomes available.
