Moondrop x Crinacle DUSK

I also bought a Hidesz S9 Pro Plus (Martha) from Ali Express. As of now, I can't duplicate the DSP tuning I'm getting using an analog cable and parametric EQ. Everything just seems a little off, but I'll keep experimenting.
It would be interesting if you could
determine which of the 3x PEQ filters (1400, 5400, 14000 Hz) is causing the difference you noted…
This could be a case of your “USB audio player” (UAPP?) not implementing the PEQ filters the same way as the Dusk DSP cable.

For example, your audio player may use the actual Fs of the track being played, whereas the Dusk DSP cable assume Fs = 44.1 or 48 kHz to calculate its biquads coefficients—that would impact mostly he 14kHz filter…

Hi! Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but... Is there any info on whether these have an inverted polarity? I remember reading that this is/was a thing for some Moondrop IEMs in the past.

What quantifiable properties of transducers would be described as "texture" and "timbre"?

According to the ASA (via Wikipedia):

Could we determine how well a transducer handles these qualities of sound from FR + THD measurements?
Both are determined by FR (when distortion is negligible, as with most IEMs today). But it is difficult to tell "how well" based on the FR, because there is no objective standard for "good timbre" "good texture" in the first place.

Fwiw.

Read the views and watched some of the YouTube vids and of course, bought a pair. Will Laufey sound better to my ears now?? :p I did read that the Dusk is great if my music preference is more on vocals.

A few questions: I have an ADI-2/4 with a Pentaconn jack along with a pair of 6.35 jacks. Is there an adapter out there for Pentaconn to USB-C?? So I can use the DSP cable? For that matter is there a Pentaconn adapter to the regular analog IEM jack? I see that there are 6.35mm adapters.

Thanks!! New to IEMs and now I have three incoming pairs thanks to ASR!!

No . The rme converts digital to analogue . You don't then want to convert that back to analog to use the dsp in the dsp cable . Use the inbuilt dsp on the rme or plug it into a source with usb c like your phone etc

Or get the dsp version for portable and use the 3.5mm cable with the rme

Edited as I confused this post with the same poster asking about the Chu 2 elsewhere.

Or get the dsp version for portable and buy a cheap 0.78mm 2 pin cable to 3.5mm to swap out and use with the rme

Thanks Thanks!! So what's the best way for me to plug these into my RMD ADI-2/4? What's a 0.78mm 2 pin cable to 3.5mm? Sorry .... noob here. With all of this digital stuff TBH.

I've edited my post .thought this was still about the Chu 2 !

The dusk comes with a usb dsp cable .use that on any source device you wish .it comes with a second cable with a 3.5mm ending you can plug into the rme and you can crib the dsp settings on the dusk to apply on the rme own eq https://crinacle.com/2024/04/10/moondrop-x-crinacle-dusk-eq-dsp-values/

The ADI-2/4 doesn't have a 3.5. Just a pair of 6.35 and the 4.4 Pentaconn. I don't want to anything that might possibly short my amp.

Interesting, one year of crinsearch for this EQ... Also available with a regular cable for $25 (the IEM, not just the cable, that is), though:

Having had both in my hands: they sound totally different. The biggest difference is the spatial qualities.
Zero 2 have a much more closed and compressed sound. In DSP Default mode it seems like a basically perfect IEM in terms of sound.

I quite agree about the Dusk with DSP. I use USB Audio Player Pro with Toneboosters PEQ on my Android phone which enables me to add a couple of bass shelves to the DSP version first one is a +2 db bass boost at 200 hz and the second shelf is a further +1 db bass boost at 50 hz, and then I add a third high shelf at 400 hz of -.5 db to tone down everything just a hair. Doing that results in what seems to be a perfect tonal balance for me.
