On a different note, Did anyone try the filter mod on the original Chu? You can use 500 mesh or a Tanchjim filter and the treble will measure close to TE Red:

Finally listening to the OG Chu for the first time today. It honestly slaps for rock and pop, after some EQ, swapping the tips for Lan narrowbores.

Preamp: -1.1 dB
Filter 1: ON LSC Fc 85 Hz Gain 1.0 dB Q 0.50
Filter 2: ON HSC Fc 2800 Hz Gain -2.5 dB Q 0.50

In this state imaging cues are extra present, it's a fun listen for stereo effects and reverbs and other production flair. Also extra good pitch intelligibility, good for music transcription. Still some treble excess that makes me want to try a filter mod before considering them an allrounder. Only a recommendation for specific cases, it might have been worth it for me snagging these before they run out of stock. But out of the box it's a flawed set.

Barely used mine, maybe 20-30hrs, but one of the earpieces is significantly lower in volume suddenly (dead driver?). Tried different sources but all the same issue sadly.

Sorry for your luck. Maybe you can take advantage of EU mandated two year warranty on electronic goods.

I recently tried the 500 mesh mod on The OG Chu. It seems to affect the lower treble more than the higher treble. More than anything it has enhanced the bass. Overall the result is reminiscent of Truthear Red, with extra treble extension. I still add same warm tilt EQ to my taste. For $2 including shipping from Aliexpress I can recommend the mod.

(Tanchjim Tanya filter is equivalent to 500 mesh)
