What advantage would the Lyngdorf have over eg. a Denon AVR-X4800 used as a preamplifier? Shouldn't they sound identical except from the difference Dirac would make to Room perfect?
Not in my experience. I’ve recently gone from a Denon 4700 to a Lyngdorf MP40 & (subjectively) it’s a huge upgrade in sound quality. I’ve also owned a TDAI2170 for more than 10 years & I love what RoomPerfect does. What advantage would the Lyngdorf have over eg. a Denon AVR-X4800 used as a preamplifier? There is nothing in the measurements that would indicate the Lyngdorf would sound better than a Denon except if Room Perfect was superior to Dirac. Not in my experience. Will be running at least 3 subs. MP60 does not support more than 2x subs?
Looks not important. It’s a tool, not jewelry.
To ask differently, is there any reason to believe ART will have better performance than RoomPerfect (though irrelevant if they never release it in HTP1)
Thanks … that’s great the Nova is working so well for you, you really can’t go wrong with Trinnov. But indeed, Trinnov Altitude certainly not in the cards for me due to cost.I liked Dirac in my 2.2 system, but I could never quite tame the bass response in my room. I went to a Trinnov NOVA and with some help from the Trinnov folks, I now have a big step up from what I could accomplish with Dirac. Emphasis on what I could do though.
I know Trinnov isn’t in the equation here due to cost to support a multichannel application, so the comments on Trinnov are just a suggestion to look closely into what Room Perfect can offer. I’m intrigued by their approach of mapping out the room with a substantial number of measurements. Completely different way to do it than what Trinnov does it with their 3D Mic, but I think it might have a better chance of delivering a high quality result than the Monolith. Given the pricing you can get on the Lyngdorf, I’d be inclined to go that route first, with the idea that you could probably easily find a buyer for it if you’re not satisfied. My $.02, which is likely worth ~$.03.
I would tend to agree with your comment. Taking the room EQ out of the equation, my guess is both devices are fully transparent and likely no audible difference in a controlled listening test. But I am considering the Lyngdorf because of the RoomPerfect and assuming it would outperform Dirac. The unknown here is if ART provides any benefit over RoomPerfect. As of today only Storm has ART as far as I know. I haven’t read any detailed reviews of Storm ART vs RoomPerfect, so tough to know. There is also the gamble that ART would even ever come to HTP1. Recent comments here on ASR say it is coming, but I believe it when I see it.There is nothing in the measurements that would indicate the Lyngdorf would sound better than a Denon except if Room Perfect was superior to Dirac.
This is an interesting read on the subject
Calling all non classical music entheusiasts to give me an opinion please: (nothing against classical music there are plenty that i like but my main genres is as follows)
the 3 amplifiers i can choose from below which will be best ?
i'm not sure if i can trust chatgpt:
If you must choose from the 3 above all in the same price class...
- Best for Trance: Sansui AU-D5 for its rich, warm sound.
- Best for Metal: Denon PMA-450 due to its dynamic range and clarity.
- Best All-Rounder: Marantz PM-53, which provides a good balance for both genres.

Got it, thanks. I had to look up Hazet, never heard of that brand before LOLNot well, IMO. I found in my old system (4 subs) using a single output and manually setting up the subs prior to RP was far better than relying on RP. DLBC is much better as a mostly-automated solution.
Sometimes one buys Hazet when Harbor Freight would work just as well.
IMO, yes. It will also require a lot more tweaking.

For those current/former owners of the HTP1, have you had to use the warranty due to any malfunction? I may be able to obtain a used HTP1 with expired warranty for much less than retail, but I wonder if spending the additional amount for new unit is worth peace of mind for the warranty.
Thanks… well, the discussion is now irrelevant as I am now the proud owner of a used HTP1 (at much less than retail). Given the cost delta between used HTP1 and used MP60, this decision was an easy one. Now I just need to learn all the idiosyncrasies of the HTP1!I wouldn’t make that assumption. If you’re running multiple subwoofers, IMO DLBC has the leg up. The neat thing about RP is it does less than other systems (at least in the two systems I’ve compared), but what it does do seems to be perceptually important.
I have not sent either of mine in for warranty service.
Let us know how it works out. Thanks… well, the discussion is now irrelevant as I am now the proud owner of a used HTP1 (at much less than retail). Given the cost delta between used HTP1 and used MP60, this decision was an easy one. Now I just need to learn all the idiosyncrasies of the HTP1!
Will do! I am especially keen to compare vs my dedicated 2ch setup which will be replaced by HTP1 (one ring to rule them all is the hopeLet us know how it works out.
@jhaider Does the HTP1 support native streaming, or I will still need separate streamer? To be more specific, does the HTP1 support Qobuz Connect?
