A question: I purchased Monitor Audio Studio 89 speakers (they're yet to arrive).

I had a question. I paid for them with a €1200 discount. The dealer told me that was the price of the old distributor and he still had a pair in stock.

Can you tell me how they differ from the previous model? Perhaps the 89 shouldn't be written on them?

I suspect they're the older model, and I don't know what details to look for. What's the difference between the old and new models? (If so, can I return them?)

Thank you very much.

Afaik there's only one Studio 89.

There is an older model that's just "Studio".

You can likely tell by tweeter grill, gold drivers on Studio 89, it'll say Studio 89 as opposed to just Studio.

@Penelinfi
Great, thanks.

They'll arrive on Tuesday, and I'll check right away.
I'll keep you updated.

Do you have any idea how they perform compared to the Kef R3 Meta?

All the dealers have told me that the Monitor Audio Studio 89s are more detailed and suitable for classical music, jazz, and singer-songwriters.

I drive them with Wiim Ultra and Wiim Vibelink.
See you soon.

No anechoic measurements have been published anywhere, so their performance is largely unknown.

If you're curious, consider sending a speaker to Amir or Erin's Audio Corner for evaluation.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I live in Italy.
It would be impossible to ship the speakers that far, but it would be a really interesting test!

A little deviation in the midrange. It might get more deviated further off axis (blue is 15 deg. horizontal)

The graph doesn't look that bad.

Similar to the R3 Meta? Do monitors around 2300K have a slightly greater drop-off, or am I wrong?

Which is a positive for me, as I find the R3 Meta too open in the mid-range.
Thanks.
