Since I literally just purchased the Monitor Audio I am going to vote that direction. They seem to have a very flat listening window and good bass response and high sensitivity. No way to know until I get them though.
He didn't specify the new 7G version. I heard the previous ones. I'm also not saying they're unsuitable for his purpose, I'm simply suggesting that rock and metal may require brighter rather than duller sounding speakers, so he may be searching for something that isn't going to work well in his use case. I guess I should have said that the 500's would be a good choice in addition to the JBL 590's.The ones who say the Monitor Audio Silver 7G 500 are agressive-sounding, must not have listened to them -at all.
