They didn't mellow out, you acclimated to their sound signature.I have the Silver 100 7g and love them. Interestingly they started out slightly bright then mellowed out and are anything but bright. They sound excellent.

I changed amp to Marantz pm6006 and they sound fantastic. They didn't mellow out, you acclimated to their sound signature.
Again, unless the previous amplifier was poorly designed and had audible flaws, possible but not really as common as people assume, and or it was genuinely underpowered, you are imaging the improvement.I changed amp to Marantz pm6006 and they sound fantastic.
There are so many variables such as personal preference, room, placement etc that go into something sounding "good" or not to someone . Measurements are one piece of the puzzle. There is no right or wrong which is what makes this hobby so great. They are also reviewed quite well by many others. I am saying they sound great to me in my situation and I have tried close to 500 pairs of speakers in the same spot including both of the monitor audio models you mentioned. Cheers.Again, unless the previous amplifier was poorly designed and had audible flaws, possible but not really as common as people assume, and or it was genuinely underpowered, you are imaging the improvement.

Thanks Jim!Personal preference (what sounds "good") is exactly that .... personal. It is unique and individual, as are many other personal preferences in life. The experience may (or may not) be able to be transferred to another person, but as a personal and unique value, there is no reason to assume that it should. There is no calibrated reference to make that possible. The ability to transfer that value (or opinion, which is what it is) to another is termed "reproducibility", and it is a cornerstone of the Scientific Method.
Therefore, to post unreferenced and uncorrelated values in a public forum as if they were replicable is unproductive.
This is a logical fallacy used in many, many areas of human endeavor to defend the indefensible. To state that "there is no right or wrong" regarding some target equates all ambiguous and non-ambiguous information, putting valid information and invalid information on an equal footing. That equability didn't allow for the manufacture of cell phones, supersonic airplanes, robotic surgery or nuclear power.
The fact that the fallacy is applied to a "hobby" is beside the point.
Opinions, which are emotional reactions not based on logic or evidential science, are the same as preference .... they are personal. Therefore, they have no reliable value to other people. Whether there exist "reviews" in greater or lesser numbers is of no importance. More examples of that which is uncorrelated and lacks value is not any better than less examples of that which is uncorrelated and lacks value.
That is nice. That is the most that anyone can say without measurements and the knowledgeable interpretation of those measurements. As has been noted above, even this very simple statement doesn't really have any value for other people ... but we're glad to know that you like them and are happy with them.
There are many sites on the Web that are havens for subjective opinions, and purport to give worthwhile value that which is ambiguous. This site is not one of them. This site seeks to use the science-based tools of testing to evaluate the engineering of equipment under examination. The values that are found are reproducible and unambiguous. So yes, this site is a haven, also.
It's a haven for logic and science, and not for subjectivism and ambiguity.
Jim
I have to ask, FIVE HUNDRED pairs, or 50 pairs??There are so many variables such as personal preference, room, placement etc that go into something sounding "good" or not to someone . Maybe a slight exaggeration because I lost count. Definitely 300 as I am talking vintage and new. It could! very well be more than that. I have tried pretty much multiple models from most brands. Just right now I have 15 pairs lol so....I think I know what sounds good in my situation. I just like trying the different sound signatures.I have to ask, FIVE HUNDRED pairs, or 50 pairs??
Over my audio lifetime, I have tried a few dozen speakers, albeit it different rooms also, and just trying to fathom how someone could be trying maybe 25 speakers a year for over a 20 year period......
Unless a typo of course...................
Me too..but I can t tell why.Maybe the tonal balance is not the best for my taste.I like warm sounding ls with full bodied bass (lifted a bit) warm midrange and a little sparkling in treble section.Egy ilyen drága hangszórónak ez nem olyan jó. Őszintén megvallva egyáltalán nem szeretem a Monitor Audio-t mint márkát
Hard to say on this one as it may be model dependent?I have owned MA BX2/BR2 , MA Silver 3i and MA Silver 100 7g. The BR2 and Bx2 were v shaped. Big bass and big treble. The silver 3i is anything but bright to me (one of my favorite speakers) and the MA Silver 100 has been pretty good too. Amirs measurements are not too bad The 7g is a refined sounding speaker but of course to each their own.Me too..but I can t tell why.Maybe the tonal balance is not the best for my taste.I like warm sounding ls with full bodied bass (lifted a bit) warm midrange and a little sparkling in treble section.
Thank You!I want to upgrade from polkaudio es20 and now the MA silver 100 7g is on very good price.Hard to say on this one as it may be model dependent?I have owned MA BX2/BR2 , MA Silver 3i and MA Silver 100 7g. Polk r200 , ascend sierra1v2, Philharmonic ceramic mini..wharfedale12.2..elac dbr62Thank You!I want to upgrade from polkaudio es20 and now the MA silver 100 7g is on very good price.
But I am afraid as I wrote I experienced on other MA models they seemed me to cold, bright a bit and "no soul" in sound.
I'd like a similar warm sound as the es20 (big energy in bass, opened midrange, crisp treble)but in better bulid quality, better soundstage and maybe a little better controlled trebles.
Remember results may vary for each person depending on their room etc. As I said everyone's taste varies. There are several speakers on this site that were rated very highly but did not work for my use situation. However there were others that measured poorly that I enjoyed a lot. And vice versa. Not sure about es20 as I have not tried those. Right now I am enjoying Wharfedale. Every use situation amps cables associated electronics changes the situation and on top of that everyone has different taste. I am only expressing my experience with my use case situation. MA sound signature may not be for everyone. That is a matter of personal taste.Thank You!I want to upgrade from polkaudio es20 and now the MA silver 100 7g is on very good price.

Right now I am really enjoying my Wharfedale diamond 12.1 so I would imagine things get better up the range. The 12.1 is the best speaker I have had connected in my office.Thank You!I want to upgrade from polkaudio es20 and now the MA silver 100 7g is on very good price.
