MoFi Sourcepoint V10 Master Edition

So, I just wanted to say...these speakers are really big...they are quite large, FYI. That's a 75" television in the pictures, for reference.
I've got a pair on order and when I hold a tape measure up where they'll be placed, I think, sure, they'll be fine. I suspect I'm about to be gobsmacked.

Thanks for doing that! Me ears are 36” off of the floor when seated and my current KEF Reference 3 tweeters are 33” high. Looks like these will be the opposite, 3” higher than my ears instead of 3” lower but more or less the same amount off axis.

Hey, so I'm no audio reviewer, and would not be able to do these speaker justice if I tried. I will simply say, that after spending about 6hrs listening to many different genres of music these speakers are...spectacular.

What I can say about these speakers is that I can "feel' the music. I can feel the stick hit the drum, I can feel the finger pick the bass guitar string, I can feel the emotion in the vocals. Reviews will say that they can hear things in the music that they didn't hear before...yeah...I can, but what's the reference point? Personally, I'm coming from Klipsch RF5's that I purchased new in 2002. Obviously not the best speakers out there, but they certainly aren't terrible. However, there is no comparison here.

So, I will say this: I can't guarantee that these speakers will meet everyone's expectations, but what I can say is that they exceeded mine (and it's a wide margin) so if you've ordered these speakers you're in for one heck of a treat, and if you're on the fence...audition them. I cannot imagine anyone walking away from experiencing these speakers feeling as though they weren't punching above their price point.

This is my honest review.

Making room for them.

Great to hear @JohnSnow.

I spent a couple of hours with them at the dealer before ordering and felt similar - an all around excellent speaker that did all genres (that we listened to) justice. I played Jazz, Blues, Electronic, Vocal, Hip Hop and spent the most time with Rock (60s-present). While my Reference 3s sound very good and throw a large soundstage with pinpoint imaging they’ve left me wanting a little with anything amplified/processed. They sound stunning with acoustic music but I felt they lacked a certain energy/punch genres like Rock, Hip Hop and Electronic need.

When I auditioned the V10s they didn’t seem to care what we threw at them, there was an effortlessness and solid sound regardless of volume level. They threw up a large soundstage with decent imaging so I’m curious as to how they’ll compare in that regard in my room to the KEFs.

They’ll be coming this week so I’ll have next weekend to get them dialed in and spend a few hours with them. Can’t wait - it’s been 4 months since I ordered them!

Congrats on successfully unboxing those without injuring yourself...at least hopefully!

I'll be interested to hear how you feel it integrates with your two SB-2000's. I was initially considering grabbing a different subwoofer than I've been using (PSA S1512), but I think it integrates pretty well...or at least I'm not sure I'll find one that integrates substantially better. Those SVS have, I believe, similar specs.

Also, the Talking Heads track, "Burning Down the House" made me grin when the mid-bass hits in that song...just throwing that out there ;)

Thankfully the delivery guys offered to help unbox them. We opened from the bottom and it all went pretty easy. These things weigh as much as I do!

I plan on running them full-range without room correction and subs for most of the weekend if not the first week to get a feel for them in the room and dial in the positioning. Only then will I plug the subs back in and run ARC. It will be interesting to see how they differ in the correction and cross overs to the KEFs.

I’ll be sure to give that track a spin - thanks for the recommendation!

May I suggest you try playing the Talking Heads Stop Making Sense concert video at elevated volume during your trial phase?
I'm sure it's going to be a very good weekend for you...

I have that on DVD-A
You should hear the remix in 5.1! Crazy cool

Nice! Sounds great I would love to hear them.

Measurements are cool but I also really enjoy listener/owner impressions. “What it sounds like.”

So, I wasn't the biggest fan of the grey grilles on these massive walnut speakers, they just didn't work with my set up. I saw that Mofi finally posted V10 grilles for sale on their website, and I snagged some black ones. Pretty steep though, at $100/each. Anyway, this is what they look like for anyone interested in doing the same.

That looks like quite a system - a sort of cross between subtle and “ means business” :-)

It's a bit of an amalgamation. I have a dedicated theater room, so ALSO having a dedicated listening room wasn't in the cards. This is the room we use mostly for entertaining the kids (we have 3 boys), but, now, also for listening, and the system needed to be easy to use for everyone.

I'm more or less happy with the compromise...that I've been allowed to make :)

My V10s are supposed to be delivered this week and I'm also not a fan of the gray grilles. I asked Mofi about dying them (knowing that was an odd question) and they said it's worth a try - and if things go south, I can always order black replacements.
