MoFi Sourcepoint V10 Master Edition

Heard them. Incredible speaker. I don't have the space and already own the 888 with a JTR Captivator RS1 so I'm content. Cos if I had the space and had no system, I'd jump at this with absolutely no hesitstion

The dimensions on the site seem incorrect. They are 15in W, nearly 20in D. You need serious space for these things.

So there seems to be some confusion if the woofers are mounted on the front or the rear. Would it make a performance difference?

Marketing says the twin woofers are rear firing: website

The designer/engineer says the twin passive radiators are on the back (27 second mark): Andrew Jones

I think that marketing is simply wrong. If not, that's some unconventional design indeed.

I also think marketing is wrong, but at 130Hz it could work with them on the back, but it probably would complicate things for no obvious reason.

Their webpage gives the V10's weight as 160 pounds.

Good diy drivers of those sizes I’d guess would weigh say 15 lbs each. Unlikely more than 20. Which would mean the total weight of the drivers around 45 lbs, unlikely more than 60.

In round numbers that’s 100 lbs of wood

Wait, is that 160 each or the pair?

each. It's a big speaker. Even with NEO magnet woofers, there a lot of wood.

Yeah, I'd believe the weight claims. The KH420s I have are about 75 pounds each and they're a whole heck of a lot smaller (1x 10" vs 2, plus the extra cabinet space and the PRs). It especially makes sense if the woofers have ferrite magnets.

The KH120’s are I’m pretty sure made of a polycarbonate. Presumably so too are the 420s

Not likely that Jones would get that wrong. As for marketers …

They're not. MDF shell and front baffle (minus the waveguide insert).

At 160 pounds each, that works out to $25 a pound for a pair at $8K. I wonder how much the weight of this floor-standing loudspeaker added to the cost getting a pair from the factory to a customer.

Pictures, measurements, or thoughts to share?
It’s early but i like how it sounds right now. Still working on placement. Here’s a picture of it next to a Polk R700.
