Hi there,
some time ago, I built a Twistedpear ES9018 based Audio DIY - DAC with shunt-regulated power supply inside a Nakamichi CD-Player.
Though the sound is great and in use for at least a decade, I am contemplating to replace the DIY-Dac and power supply and put an SMSL SU-2 into the CD-Player.
But I am still proud of the work I did back then, see photos. Their quality is a hint that this happened some time ago.

It is literally a unit inside a unit, without wasting space in the rack.
The power switch on the front panel of the Nak became a toggle switch to select between six SPDIF inputs and one Toslink input, using relays.
The red RCA on the right became Toslink, as I was not able to drill a square hole for the plug. It accomodates a 3.5mm Toslink jack.
The white RCA is SPDIF Out. Powering the Nak is done the classical way, with two switches at the back panel on at the AC Input of the two transformers, to power Player and DAC independently.

So if I did put in a SU-2 while keeping the power-on switches and diy input circuitry, this would mean to bridge the power-on switch of the SU-2 that also acts as an input selector, so the SU-2 is on when AC-Input gets power. Also the SU-2 needs to be defaulted to RCA-SPDIF- input forever. I could use any advice how to achieve this!
Many thanks and all the best, Herbert.
