pads q1.

are ther any angled version of these Dekoni Ear Pads for the t50rp ? or is my only

option is these Alpha Pads (genuine lamb-leather) any just to confirm either will fit the t50rp mark IV , as i ordered some Brainwavz Angled Ear Pads Replacement Memory Foam Earpads but they didnt

they were to narrow and wouldnt fit the mounting groove

q2. cables

im going to get some custom balanced xlr to dual 3.5mm cables from Audiophile Ninja iv got some for another set of cans an they've done me well

but since the t50rp mark 4's come with a stereo cable work with either earphone jack

will a custom balanced xlr to dual mono 3.5mm set work with the t50rp ?

There is the head-fi hread .... veils are lifted..

The headphone cable is intended to be single entry with the option to use either the left or right side for entry.
Fortunately they use a 3.5mm TRRS connector which allows balanced usage (or 4-wire cable to TRS jack)

If you want to turn it into a dual entry headphone you need to modify the headphone.
Most dual entry headphones that have 3.5mm sockets use Tip for signal and Sleeve for return and there is no connection between L and R cups.

The T50RP, however, uses Tip for L+, Ring-1 for R+ (which is the standard) and Ring-2 (which would be sleeve in any 3.5mm TRS jack) for L- and Sleeve for R-.
When you were to use a (usual 'standard') dual entry cable with either 3.5mm TS or 3.5mm TRS connector on the headphone side only the left channel would become audible in both cups and chances are you might be shorting the R side if using a cable with 2x TS connector.

" Do the pads need to be changed ?
The mk4 pads look to be much deeper and softer than the horrible mk-II and mk-III pads. "

i have no experience with the other fostex's both my other can's the m570 my most recent , an my oldest JVC HARX900 id say the t50rp m4 stock pads the the same thickness an comfort as the jvc.
on both the jvc an m570's i have both Brainwavz flat an Angled an the were thicker an better for long term comfort an the did help with some sound improvement

i just ran into the issue the the current Brainwavz Angled i ordered didnt actually fit the t50rp mark 4's so i was going to try the Dekoni or the Alpha Pads an i was looking to confirm either will actually fit the t50rp mark 4's & which shapes the sound the best an is the most comfortable ?

as for the cables i didnt really understand what you said , i have seen some supposed UN-modified uses a xlr balanced to dual 3.5mm TS Male connectors , is this something that would work without becoming audible in both cups and shorting or should i send my t50rp mark4 of the modhouse to be converted ?

I suppose at some point in time cable manufacturers will make a cable for it.
The wiring for (single entry) 3.5mm TRRS is pretty 'standard' so there may be a cable for it.
Not for dual entry (and is not needed anyway)

ok thank , what about my pads choices

Have no idea what pads will work well with this model.
Pads usually also change the sound which could be for the better or worse.
