Just received the newsletter, sounds like the one to rule them all (rather expansive at 3500 USD, but ok)

Product Brief:

What do you think?
Measurements need some @amirm treatment for sure ;)

$3500 as per product page. HIGHLY interested in this as a replacement for an old Denon AVR which doesn't have Dirac or ART support, out of the box too no less.

..as long as they have studied Arcam's releases. Steep learning curve...

I think it looks fantastic but having been bitten twice by Arcam I'd wait a while!

Hmm, just bought a Flex HTx a few months ago. This would (hypothetically) be the exact ideal for my set-up, though obviously it’s 3x+ the price and the HTx is serving me well at the moment. I’ll hold off on it for now, but I hope others buy it, so all the kinks are ironed out by the time I have the cash for one! Hopefully the DAC performance is the same as the Flex devices (which it is if we believe their numbers).

Exciting for miniDSP since nobody else seems to be filling this niche at this price point. Would be nice if it had HDMI 2.1, only thing missing that I notice immediately (but you can just hook up your 2.1 devices to a TV and use earc).

I think $3500 is a very appropriate price; hope it will stay there for a good amount of time (keep in mind there’s likely tariffs to add if you’re in the US as was the case with my HTx).

How much were tariffs on you htx? I’ve been considering one to expand my system for use with art…..

Now split it for half the channels, the size and the price, and I'm interested.

100% degree that $3500 dollars is a great price. But I am sure somebody will be a long soon to say it needs more HDMI inputs and only processes at 48 khz...
I can't even keep up with what the tariffs are for into the USA. Currently in the UK we just get caught with the 20% VAT... And some nominal import tax that escapes my memory

I was just about to push the button on an htx... And think I probably still will. But this bloody thing has got me thinking!

The big things here are that this is the first miniDSP with Dolby decoding, and the first with Dirac ART.

MiniDSP use the ESS ES9017 DAC, which is a Hyperstream IV DAC. The specs are the same as the Hyperstream II DACs, but they’re much better.

MiniDSP also claim better performance from the AVP (-118dB THD+N) than ESS claim for the DAC (-110dB), which is a world first. Extraordinary.

8 channels would only mean support for up to 7.1, and obviously not enough for 7.2.4 or anything super crazy. Although I only use 5.1 myself so I'd be interested either way. Add analog-out so that passive speakers can be covered as well, and that would be my dream.
