MiniDSP SHD or Stick with Wiim Ultra? Advice Needed!

It was specifically the time-delay and crossover elements of subwoofer integration that my question related to though.
The WiiM Ultra has a subwoofer out with adjustable crossover frequency, level (gain), phase and latency. The crossover topology and slope are not listed in their specifications, and I don't see any indication in the WiiM app as to what they are.

There is no crossover setting for the main speakers, at least as of now. But, it could come down in a future update - WiiM is good about adding new features with software updates. One could use one or more highshelf filters to attenuate the low frequencies going to the speakers, but a crossover is preferable.

I went the other way and will never look back to Dirac and MiniDSP again. I had MiniDSP and Dirac Live, but with the DDRC24, not the SHD.

Overall the user experience is much better with the Wiim. It also has real subwoofer integration. With Dirac on the SHD it’s still just stereo with no real LFE processing. So you end up with a hybrid solution where you have to manually tweak and measure the sub with REW and MiniDSP software. Hope you get it right. And then let Dirac do it’s thing.

I did this many times over multiple years. The experience with the Wiim is much easier because everything is done on the mobile app. And subjectively I’m getting better results.
Totally agree. The WiiM software is getting better with every update. I'm using the PEQ in the WiiM Ultra and getting good results. I measured my room with REW to get the settings I use. I couldn't get any usable results from Ultra's built-in room correction. Hopefully they improve that area soon.

I was feeding my sub (SVS SB-3000) from RCA in my D70 Pro Sabre, but found it was easier to do room correction when I used the sub out on the Ultra. I also am using the time correction of the Ultra found in the sub options area of their software. It's reporting a 10ms difference.

A recent firmware update allows using the sub out while using USB out. That's when I started feeding my sub from the Ultra instead of the DAC.

What do you think about the DAC quality of the Ultra compared to the D70 Pro Sabre?

Sabre is better by all technical standards but you won't hear the difference. Sabre not a streamer, no subwoofer out, various other conveniences

The WiiM can hold its own, and most will not notice a difference, but some will. The D70 Pro Sabre is better/darker than the WiiM. You'll be more likely to notice the difference if you have good equipment/speakers downstream. I have Topping B200 mono blocks and Revel F206 mains, so the difference is a bit more apparent.

I've had my mono blocks fed from the D70 Pro Sabre with XLR and my SVS SB-3000 sub fed from an RCA out on it. So technically it can do both, but you're feeding the sub the entire signal. Since my sub has a PEQ built in, it wasn't too bad, but to be honest, I now have the sub fed by the sub out on my WiiM Ultra and find it's better balanced there.
