Anyone tried spdif output to aes input?

I can't speak to miniDSP capabilities. But from what I recall reading on the RME forums (for their products), the general guidance is that S/PDIF to AES works well for short distances; that the RCA to XLR cable should be 75 ohm coax; and the cable length should be under 3 meters / 9 feet.
