So basically just do broad low Q filters above transition frequency is what im understanding from this because it will most likely correlate to the anechoic reponse of the speaker anyway.

Based on my statement you can do very precise PEQ filters of both high and low q above room transition but they should be based anechoic data to correct the speaker and not on in room measurements.
You can do broad tonal adjustments as well and those would allow you to tailor for taste, different spl levels and/or accommodate issues with source material/content.

I tried the digital version of the Flex. Software is okay. The hardware is cheap. Acrylic panel fell off, right out’ the box. The interface wouldn’t title settings, so I had to guess which EQ setting was which or write it down. I also had to hook the device up to my MAC each time I wanted to add or tweak an EQ. That said, I returned it for refund. I have Amazon Prime, so I only lost time on it. I’ve now got SPL’s analog crossover bookmarked as a solution, as my purpose is for my 2.1 “music” rig.

I have had that happen on one device out of probably ten. It's easily glued back on.

Known fault. I have 3 of them. 2 of 3 did this. Don't agree with all other complaints.

I’ve owned three devices from miniDSP and none of their acrylic faces came off. I actually thought the quality was fine.

I have used several Flex units (mostly Flex 8) for my active speakers (LX521.4 and CBT36K) and have not have any problems with either hardware or software. The only complaint I have is that there is no linux version of the software (I hate Microsnot) so I use my dual boot laptop to program it. The inputs I use are USB and TOSLINK. Here are the LX521.4 and the CBT36K systems.

I got mine over a year ago and it has been perfectly fine *shrugs*

You need to supply the necessary channels of amplification (I am using a 6 channel and 4 channel Hypex Ncore amplifiers from Buckeye Amps) and the dsp/crossover (the config file for the flex 8 is available when you buy the plans).

I got the kit for the CBT36K from Parts Express but it is no longer made.

If you're DIY-inclined, a pair of LX521 can be built for under $5000 including amplifiers and crossover, as I did.

So i got myself flex (digital version) to use with kef ls50 Wireless2.

Mainly got it for 2 sub out with Dirac Live. I also have wiim ultra, which works great and has room correction, but doesn't have a sub out.

So my ipressions of the unit is good, I like the simple design and monochrome screen, but some things are just driving me nuts:
1. There is no auto standby, so device is contantly sending white noise to speakers which can't go to standby either.
2. No input auto sense and to change input on the device I need to click multiple times, because first selection is for presets not for inputs. Removes solves it, but it is IR and doesn't work from every angle
3. Display turns off after some time and there is no way to keep it on permanently when device is on, kinda crap...

I think about selling it and using Wiim for mains and getting a 2x4 HD just for subs.

Why not run the Wiim Digital output through the Flex for Dirac and subs? Yes there's some redundancy there, but you maintain multiple subs and have Driac.
