MINI DSP setup?

So, i have few questions about setup...in my setup I have streamer-dac-tube amp (integ., no preout) + sub (connected to high terminal). How could I add a minidsp there, that i dont lose my DAC...Is only way to use minidsp digital? Streamer-minidsp-dac-amplifier+sub...? hm...

miniDSP used to have a product called NanoDIGI, unfortunately it is discontinued but maybe you can find some on the used market
That unit you could put between your streamer (if it has an optical output) and your DAC

I am not aware of such an existing miniDSP product but others may chime in with better knowledge

Alternatively you can use any analog in/analog out DSP device but that will convert your analog signal to digital internally then convert it back to analog....

The rational choice would be to replace your streamer with one that has built-in DSP (WiiM Mini/Pro/Ultra), or to replace your DAC with one that has built-in DSP (miniDSP Flex)

You could even consolidate streamer+DSP+DAC into a single device, e.g WiiM Pro/WiiM Ultra/miniDSP SHD.

Using a separate streamer, DSP, and DAC will make for a more expensive setup without increasing fidelity.

.Is only way to use minidsp digital?
Yes, there is the SHD Studio which is all digital and a version of Flex is all digital. Any other way you're using the DAC in the Minidsp

The miniDSP Flex has excellent performance as a DAC as well as having likely all of the DSP options one would need. Is your current DAC better than the miniDSP Flex?
The Flex has 4 output channels which seem ideal for integrating a sub with your main speakers. There is an adequate number of PEQ filters in both the two input channels as well as the 4 output channels to perform room mode correction. This can be done with REW and a UMIK microphone.

What are you trying to accomplish with the Minidsp? Have you done any measurements with REW on the system you have now to identify issues you're trying to alleviate? Make more sense to simply your system but to keep it as is you would need digital in > digital out.

Thanks for replys... I do before research for minidsp shd, but here i have few questions here. Like i said my sub is connected to high terminals, so dsp cant do correction direct here...(probably is not optimal...). Probably will be good if i measure before, one problem is in corner, there are much more bass, but no place for bass trap...yes, will test it...and will see...

Is high terminals the only way to connect your sub?

Hmm. If you apply Dirac correction to the signal before it reaches the amplifier, the subwoofer would still be included in the Dirac measurements and corrections, even if it's connected through the high-level terminals. This is because Dirac captures the combined sound from all speakers during calibration and optimizes the combined output, including the subwoofer, regardless of its connection method.
If the subwoofer is already properly setup and positioned well in the room, it should integrate with the system.

Now is only that, buf if i choose this setup on youtube, could be other...only i dont know what minidsp do with signal from DAC?
If you need to use a DAC upstream of the miniDSP, then the miniDSP has to first convert the DAC analog output back into digital.

That means that in the end, you would increase fidelity by bypassing the DAC entirely, so instead of e.g. Streamer->DAC->miniDSP, do Streamer->miniDSP

Yes, i see now...all problem...so, that or. minidsp shd...and then to dac...

Sub to amp, high terminal. Probably off sub when do test with microphone, and then on and do manual adjustment?

Curious, why do you want to insert a minidsp 2x4 or SHD instead of replacing your streamer with a Wiim pro as suggested above? They are the same price (cheaper than the shd) and the Wiim pro solves both the streaming and DSP problem in one and simplifies your system.

will look into...thanks...

I was testing out the WiiM Ultra usb output into a Raspberry Pi as a usb gadget with CamillaDSP. Then usb out of the Pi into a Fosi ZD3. It worked well, I even got bitrate switching working, the ZD3 was reporting it. If I remember correctly, CamillaDSP has more functionality than a Minidsp such as convolution eq.

With this setup I was planning on using the sub out of the WiiM Ultra and apply a stereo parametric eq to two subwoofers and then speaker eq in CamillaDSP on the Pi. With a multichannel Dac I can do all the eq in CamillaDSP. I’m going to be testing this over the next few months. If it sounds good I might get an Okto dac or wait for the Fosi multichannel dac.

USB out of the WiiM is asynchronous, so phase drift between sub and mains is to be expected.
