Might be a short-lived thread - Topping DX9 faulty unit?

I just upgraded to DX9, received it only a few days ago and was about to sit down for my first listening
session just now. Only problem is, it won't power on

I've switched ON/OFF button back and forth several times. Tried plugging the cable into different outlets

Seems to be dead. Tried pushing the multi function button, yet nothing

DOA?

If so it's very disappointing.

It happens. I’m personally not a Topping fan, but in fairness, it could happen on a 10k DAC too. Many here love their Topping gear. Hopefully your customer service experience is a good one and you can start enjoying music soon.

Have you checked the fuse? (If you have ”sensible” plugs ;))

Yea it's a bit sad, was a bit denial at first as I felt I just didn't pay attention and did something wrong, but seeing I've swapped the cable, tried different outlets and performed ON/OFF switching several times, I suppose that's about it for what a guy can do, right?

I've owned several DAC/AMP combo's from Topping and I've been well pleased, so this is a first for me -.-

I thought that perhaps your power lead has the plug type that may have a fuse in it (uk 3 pin plugs do) or at the back of the DX9 next to the IEC socket there is a small plastic cover, remove this and you’ll find a fuse

Ah ok, I located the back cover but it seems to be stuck hard in there and I don't want to break anything

If it's the fuse I'd still just be more comfortable returning it for a new unit :(

Place a small/thin screwdriver under the small tab in the middle and prise the cover out - you wont break anything so go ahead, it will contain the glass fuse inside a plastic holder.

Topping fit a fast blow .2amp fuse of 5mm x 20mm size and they do break/blow, you should have a spare fuse inside the box it came with

A blown fuse shows problem down the road,if that is the problem.
Better return or refund in such cases.

It should be required that for every new topping failure thread, froma low post account, the original poster should have to post a picture with their user name next to the alleged broken device.

Threads that say up front they’re probably short-lived should be removed right away to prevent the existence of self-unfulfilling prophecies.
I like it. Reminds me of the suggestion to throw 50% of job applicants' CVs in the bin unread to weed out unlucky candidates.

Just a small update - and to please @Hemi-Demon

I had my DX9 connected to my computer via USB and power - the same way when it didn't turn on despite switching fuses (eventually) & trying different cables
and outlets. Power was still on, but it was (as expected) dark and seemingly dead

Then, all of a sudden, without doing literally anything but browsing the internet, I noticed lights right next to me.
It just came to life, just like that - I didn't do a darn thing

It works! Yes, naturally it's quite obvious - this is weird. I tried switching the power off and back on again, it still works

I'm currently monitoring it, but it seems to work just fine as of right now

I won't return it immediately if it keeps functioning normally

I bought my unit from a retailer in Norway, and they are very helpful so I feel totally confident I'd have no hassle if it would be any future problem

Still puzzles me though, how it just came to life all on its own, really creeped me out

It doesn't run hot, and everything seems to work as intended. That said I'm really pleased with the output so far

Thanks for all of your inputs, I appreciate your attention despite making what I mentioned might be a short-lived thread

That display doesn't look right because only the right side is lit. I will attach a photo of mine so you can see the difference. I am using the 4.4mm balanced output, and it looks like you are using a 3.5mm to 6.5 adapter. That might be part of the issue you are having? I have a question that someone might have an answer? Why do my computer speakers not work when I plug into the AES input on the DX9 from the USB output on my computer? They should work when I turn the DX9 off, because they do work if I use the USB input on the DX9. I prefer using the AES input because it sounds slightly better than the USB, and is also a more secure connection. I've tried troubleshooting the problem and can't figure it out. I hate wasting time trying to troubleshhot computer and smartphone issues.

Probably has to do with the USB to AES converter you're using.

Why is that? And why only for Topping?
