Mic selection made easier? Curious what audio folks think

I recently developed a microphone selector tool and am seeking feedback from individuals who work with microphones or audio systems.


The tool is designed to help you:

• Filter mics by application (vocals, instruments, podcasts, streaming, Discord, Gaming, etc.)
• Compare key specs (polar patterns, frequency response, sensitivity)
• Narrow choices based on use case and budget
• Save time when picking the right mic for a job

I built it because I often found myself juggling spec sheets when deciding what mic to use, and wondered if a quick selector could help.


Would love your thoughts on:

• Is this actually useful in real-world workflows?
• What features would make it better or more practical?

I would like the results to show the frequency response on axis, then off axis for directional microphones, sensitivity, and noise floor. That is always what I look at first.

Add Line Audio, Schoeps, DPA, AEA, Telefunken, and others. Just look at the vendors on any pro audio website.

I believe there was a paid subscription website that had the data I suggested and sound samples. I think ASR has an interest in measurement microphones and that question comes up often.

Thanks for your input. I want the tool to serve both beginners and experts am thinking of creating a pro version for people who need detailed info.
