Enquired yesterday regarding some Meyer sound Blue Horns, their full range monitoring / recording monitors, prices were akin to ‘audiophile’ !
Anyone heard them or have an opinion?

With everything manufactured in-house in California and 130 dB linear SPL wouldn't particularly expect them to be modestly priced :)

Modest would have been nice!
£110k for a pair seems rather on the high side though.
What would you recommend ‘all out’ monitors, I don’t mind ugly .

I'm no expert on monitors, sorry. If you are interested in those using DSP then besides Meyer there is Hedd with their Lineariser VST plugin, Genelec of course and KS Digital - their LineMaster is probably in the same vein.

Maybe you could pick up a good second hand pair on Craigslist? ;)

But seriously if you have the spare cash and a room big enough to do them justice why not? i can only dream of such things.

When we go to The Arts Centre Melbourne for concerts they use Meyer Sound speakers, and the sound is superb, can only imagine what those Blue Horns sound like.

Second KS Digital recommendation by @JohnPM , they know their stuff, have been in contact with their engineers. Not sure about the flagship stuff, but their entry-level C5-Reference offers DSP crossover (for better or for worse, with a custom FPGA), phase linearisation, biamplification, a custom-specced SEAS coaxial (Kevlar cone) for a sealed enclosure, a steel plate rather than MDF enclosure, an integrated adjustable stand, all assembled in Germany, all for KEF LS50 passive pricing. They claim to tweak every set that comes out of the factory to track the curve of their reference unit. C5-Reference would be a nice entry-level active that fits in with your ethos of evidence-based innovation in speakers imho and round off your product line.

Another option is any Genelec with their fancy new edgeless coaxial driver. Think something like the 8351 (more innovative) or 8260 (more SPL) would be a good foil for the Kii, Grimm and DD - similar level of performance, all backed by solid research, but a different take at it.

Another brand that's almost exactly like Meyer is Ocean Way. Absolutely horrid, hideous sound - avoid.
