Metal-adjacent genres or material without at least a serving of screamo/growlo barely make it for me
I find the instrumental practitioners of many genres often the most interesting, including Metal and 'adjacent' genres ...c
Now wait, fast compared with what? This is decent too, and very technically skilled musicians (pretty fast stuff):
Now wait, fast compared with what?
Other metal I suppose, yes?
Ok, because if we're talking pure UN-assisted speed there's stuff over and beyond:Didn't mean the track as in BPM but as in the technicality of the drums and guitars.
Might still not be fast compared to speed metal or something, which I don't listen to.![]()

(I didn't take you to the crazy ones like Paganini cause the particular one has a rock-steady image great to test upper x-overs too)
Fair enough, that's why I already asked. That track doesn't sound like metal to me (the thread topic).![]()

Speed has to be defined in its context.
Music is music, see the fun part of it, ask Steve Vai what he enjoyed most (he played both parts) in the famous duel at "Crossroads" movieI thought the context was given by the thread, but apparently not. If you listen to it and disagree that it is fast or technical, that is fine with me - no need to adhere to my definition.

Oh wow, first two tracks of Watershed!Ne Obliviscaris - Exul.
Ihsahn - Self titled.
Opeth - Watershed.
Ghost - Meliora.
Katatonia - Sky Void of Stars.
And anything that produce by Jens Bogren
I have a thing for presto, that's all.No need to apologise. That track builds slowly but returns a BPM around 170 which is respectable in traditionally faster genres like hardcore techno and breakbeat (let's ignore speedcore and extratone for now). The Tchaikovsky is around 80 bpm.
A particular piece can feel/sound slower or faster due to individual instruments of course. Which is what @Sokel is responding to. But with your prog-leanings triggering actual classical finding its way into the thread, I'm going for skilfully executed but entirely more energetic palate cleanser with somewhat higher abrasion:
*coincidentally also around 170 bpm

I don't envy people, at all.
But him, I envy:
(for the ones that can't wait go to 16.00 and start there)
(ok,ok,I'll stop)
