Mesanovic CDM65 love?

View attachment 516358

Random 16-ish month update with the Mesanovic CDM65’s, because why not.

Got some better speaker stands, gained a bit more distance away from them, and dialled in my listening position.

These speakers have proven to be absolute monsters. They aptly fill the room, and continue to be a valuable resource to my mixes.

They also take room eq really well. Measured them with REW, created the corrective filters, and then applied them to a system wide EQ. Ended up with this measurement in the listening position.

With the new Ascilab stuff coming out (and they do look amazing), I just wanted to take a second to give some love to other smaller companies making great products.
Wow -that is a hugely impressive graph, and that’s with no subs, right?

No subs! I've actually since relaxed the low end EQ correction filters to let the woofers just kinda be themselves a bit. It's a great time in this room, haha.

Thanks for the update. Interesting setup. What is the vertical arrangement? The speakers look quite high and monitor looks down low. Are you standing up when listening?

They’re at ear level when I’m in my chair. I just deliberately keep my monitor low so that they don’t get in the way of the speakers.

I recently had the chance to hear the CDM65 speakers and they are everything that the measurements tell us. The cardioid mode is incredible and sets them apart from other speakers in their class. The stereo image is really good both on and off axis horizontally. The low end is the most impressive part. They go so much lower than you would expect. It's very tight and accurate. I turned them up plenty loud and there was no audible distortion. These would be my first choice (over Neumann and Genelec) for studio monitors and they would also be my first choice for a home hifi system. They are just so accurate and well designed.

Going strong 2 years in. Got some new Sound Anchor stands for them, re-measured and re-calibrated the space, and we're flatter than ever.
