After viewing a youtube clip that was reviewing multiple drivers including some chinese beryllium (scanspeak) knock-offs that actually performed really well I decided to order a pair of 28mm 'beryllium' tweeters from aliexpress (no guts no glory). These are the drivers: Aliexpress
So I ended up paying ~160euro for the par and that included the shipping cost. Not cheap for the avarage tweeters but really cheap for a beryllium tweeter.
I measured them with an iSemCon7150. However I apparently did not save the measurement but it showed the resonant peak @30khz. This would suggest there is at least some Beryllium in this dome
. I may do it again in the near future and update this post.
This evening I did a quick THD measurement comparing them with the SB26ADC that I had around. I used the UMIC1 and measured them around 30cm distance @96dB which would translate roughly to 86db@1M.
The measurment was done quick and dirty. Not mounted in a baffle. Just free standing against a small box on a slab of belgium hard stone. So don't put too much weight on the 'flatness' of the drivers. If I take a look at hificompass at first glance it looks like simular performance of the SB29BN compared to the SB26ADC in the distortion department.
