Meaningful upgrade or just bias? UR22C to Topping E1x2 with HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

Hi,I'm an audio newbie and produce Vocaloid guitar tracks and Orchestra. I currently use a HIFIMAN Ananda Nano with a Steinberg UR22C. I am considering the Topping E1x2, but I’m not sure if it will make a real difference in my workflow.

  • Volume: To get a proper monitoring level, I have to turn the UR22C's knob past the 12 o'clock position. Does this mean I lack headroom for transients? I don't hear obvious distortion yet.
  • Bias: The Ananda Nano is very comfortable to wear. I am worried that this physical comfort might be biasing me to want better source gear, even if the technical gain is marginal.
Questions:
  1. Mixing: Is the difference in clarity between an entry-level interface (UR series) and Topping significant for mixing decisions?
  2. Planar Matching: Is the E1x2's amp objectively a match for the Ananda Nano?
  3. Hi-Z: Is there a measurable change in DI recording quality for guitar (noise floor/dynamics)?
I am looking for honest advice based on measurements and experience. I don't want to waste money if the improvement is small.
apologizing for the subjective term 'difference.'

Thank you.

No. You lack headroom for transients only if you're maxing out the volume and it's still not loud enough, or you experience distortion/clipping from your playback system before you can reach your desired loudness.

If the system plays loud enough and there's no audible distortion, then you have enough headroom to resolve transients.

It is not.

Yes.

You can check Krause's latest interface review to see how the UR22C and E1x2 (E2x2 in his graphs, but it has identical performance) compare to each other, and to other interfaces on the market.
