I was wondering when McIntosh would get around to re-introducing this model.

Is that a LCD VU display?
That's a really good question (in all seriousness)
My hope would be that, in keeping with the amplifier's retro-nature, the display would be a CRT with a special blue phosphor screen. (in less seriousness)

The only McIntosh product I would ever consider is the MC462. And it is not great value for the money.

Put Hypex, DSP and resistive heater inside and you are done ;). No need to change tubes every 2 years, then.

McIntosh selling this is a lot like Tesla coming out with a new horse-drawn sedan.

Or just take up stamp collecting and jettison the whole HiFi thing. ;)

It's pretty and the disable the illumination feature is great. The rear shot is even prettier. 350w/ch is impressive

At least they don't appear to be using those silly green LEDs under the tubes.

15K for a mono.

30K for a stereo pair. That's about 25 purify equivalents.

Perhaps you are paying per watt of consumed power at normal listening levels?

Wow, by the time you add in the upgraded power cords and speaker cables, you must be near $100k for a stereo pair!

Ah yes - I'd forgotten the "spend more on wire than on amplifier" philosophy.

Referencing Woodstock is a very powerful marketing ploy though. "Create the most iconic rock festival of all time in your own living room"

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but IMHO that's one drop dead gorgeous amp.
In my fantasy I can see thirteen of them lined up across my HiFi shrine driving a 7.4.6 Atmos/Auro
multich rig. I'll need to see a HVAC specialist to design the noiseless air-conditioning system for my
huge listening-theater room.
Time to go pickup that megalotto ticket again.

Each one is 6A @ 120V, so let's say you get 2 per 15A branch, you'll need at least 7 branch circuits. Maybe 3 per 20A for only 5 branches. That's almost 10 kW. Maybe you could get an EV-charging rate plan and use the HT instead of charging a car? That would be quite the wall of sound though.

I do sometimes think about a 452 or 462, but I don't easily have the space for it -- they are so deep.
