I wasn't complaining at all. You are reading too much into my train of thought. Just wondering why would a manufacturer underspec their product or get it so wrong. This is not the first time I came across reviewer finding more Watts than specified.

Now that I am thinking of it, I want to complain about it :)

Of course. That would be worse. Why do you even question that?

Depends on what you mean by EXACTLY.. If it's few percentages off, that's fine. To miss mark by 80% would be not OK with me.. What else are specs for?

Thank you for not blundering more...
Electronics are a science of electron flow physics and the laws of those physics are basically written in stone and not variable but... but those same laws of physics determine that electronics do not follow exactly defined parameters due to variations in real life materials used to make electronics components and the resulting designs of electronic circuitry. Unless an audio amplifier for example is made following the exact laws of electron flow physics and that requires the most expensive of materials and the resulting very expensive rare parts that go into/onto a circuit board then tolerance variations will result and do result in all electronics circuits. To you this may appear as some sort of irrationality but it's simple physics applied and resulting in normal day to day imperfections in the universe and not a big deal and it's all around you in everything. Your attitude about it is basically all made from fictions, not facts and is not reality. Your arguments and need to complain is well... basically silly.

Please correct me if I am wrong here:
As far as I can figure, the object of testing is to see if an item does not meet (or meets and or exceeds) it's specifications. And, in general, is considered to be a great product if it does the latter.
And, in this case, the product exceeds the latter.
Also, being a Pre-Amp, it has various ways of adjusting the output power.
Therefore, if one does not need the extra power that it is capable of, then one can throttle the level back.
Or simply get a different unit.
I do not see an issue here. (Unless their was no way to use less than the maximum output).
The specs are the minimum guaranty, as far as I know, there is no maximum % of how much better than the spec it is allowed to be.
I feel like I may be missing something here.
So, I mistook what you said as being a complaint. Which you have explained that it is not.
As I have never, in my 52 years, involved in audio, (and living, at one point or another, in more than 1/4 of the worlds countries) ever heard anyone say anything like that.
Therefore, I made the mistake of viewing it as a complaint. Please accept my apology.
Maybe it's not meant for me to understand it.

It's a weird comment to make in a forum that measures SINADs and distortions to .01 precision. If variability like these exists, why even bother to measure these things? I was speaking of something that's off by 80%. And wasn't complaining to be honest. Anyway, if this is your answer, that's a much better take than the other guy who was being judgmental on my train of thought

There wasn't an issue to begin with. My surprise was at the difference in specified power and measured power. It was an honest comment to post in a forum, so that people know... But your comments made me think about these and I guess I have more to complain now. In essence, if a product exceeds expectation, it is a good thing. But can't be true with all specs. For e.g. higher power has the potential to destroy headphone drivers, at least theoretically. Anyway peace :)

It's not weird at all and to use the terminology "Weird" reinforces your lack of understanding on the matter. ~80% in some linear output audio amplifier designs is the normal...LoL. It's funny I know and I am chuckling too @ it for all the right reasons too and I am sure you are really going to be thinking I'm being all that but it's true and yes it's absurd @ the surface to see it but it's reality and there is a clear cut reason that they do that. They do it to get good linearity specifications down to like ~1 Ohms or 2 Ohms etc so that when a specifications hunter/huntress goes looking for linearity of power output at the amplifier output they see Ohms Law being followed. It's sometimes an illusion but it's real, it's physics, it's electronic design and it results in some very interesting designs that are fabulous in their humungous power supply sizes and the large gauge of the parts used to get to that design type.

You are using terms like, "If this is your answer">>> This IS my answer. It's the actual answer and it is not an IF possible maybe could be IF. It is the answer.

You said you where not complaining.>>> You said in English that you are going to complain. Are you going to complain or not and is that complaining?

Your train of thought is more like dictating than suggesting and or asking. There is a difference.

Appreciate if you can share those normal results. If it's normal, it should be plenty. As far as I can see it's often the other way around.

I wonder if a brand will under-specify their most visible / marketable spec (power rating) for something more niche (linearity). Anyway all these are valid explanations, I dont mind.. I could be technically wrong and I can accept that.. My reaction was only towards your immature response on my train of thought :)

Dont think reading comprehension is your strong suit, I will leave it here...

Seriously. This is about me now? You use poor grammar, use fiction words and you make this out to be my responsibility? Words matter as you know very well as an adult. You use words everyday and when you have critical important matters at hand you use the correct proper words and you demand people use the proper accurate words for your personal critical matters. But here words don't matter you say. Seriously?

Immature? You can't even use the proper words, have a low level of English composition skills, you accused me of not being able to read your poorly composed fiction comments and you are stating I am immature? What do you want? Do you want me to read your comments literally and respond respecting your intended meaning? Or... Do you want me to perceive/interpret your comments and use a crystal ball with chicken livers, taro cards and a Ouija Board to see and visualize what you wanted me to read? Which one is it? Which one suits your agenda right now at this moment? Which one will suit your needs in an hour? I don't even need to read your stuff nor do I have a obligation to read your diatribe, tossing slag and spin.

What was fictitious about my comments?

What English composition skills? Be precise, not word salad..

Also waiting for evidence on ~80% in some linear output audio amplifier designs is the normal

I don't answer to people like you. You figure it out yourself. You are expected to be an adult here and everywhere for that matter capable of reasonably good communications without fictions and without tossing slag. But you do the opposite and now pretend that I am supposed to pretend for you and inform you and teach you. If you have an issue with this level of very simple clear concise English and you need to call it word salad to assuage your mindset then you are surely going to have major terrible issues with any and all technical English that I would be required to use to make you feel better. I am wasting my time, energy and effort on you as you dictate here. I am very busy and you apparently do not respect that nor respect me. I'll be watching YouTube and you can carry on here with yourself by yourself.
