This is definitely a purifi midwoofer, no matter how often they write "Proprietary" ;o)...

Nice little speaker but I don't understand why it should be placed this way (quote): "Recommended minimum distances: 50 cm from the side walls, 60 cm from the front wall (the wall behind the speaker)."

This is a small speaker for small to medium rooms and since place will be restricted most of the time it will be placed near the front wall. To be fair, the manufacturer encourages customers to find out about optimal placing by varying parameters: "Distances are taken from the center of the baffle. These are general guidelines—optimal placement may vary depending on room size, shape, furnishings, and listening position. Perform a few careful listening tests to find the best placement."

But a speaker with bass response to the mid thirties and a 4" midwoofer will always be restricted to small rooms and low listening levels....Does anyone have informations about the price?

It is not a customised Woofer but a genuine Purifi as already said.

The advertised rosewood finish looks great to me. Advertised price should be without VAT so including VAT it's about the price of the Clarity 4.2. In other words: competitive.

That's very interesting. They also advertise with a 'dynamic enhancement algorithm (...) that further optimizes woofer performance (...) at lower volumes'. So, loudness compensation a la Fletcher-Munson?

I do hope they implemented simple boundary gain and desk bounce dip switches as well, considering where these will be placed 99% of the time.

Looks like there aren't dip switches but there is PEQ (8 band if I'm reading correctly). Would be nice if in that software the included some quick boundary eq presets.

You should look at the distortion data. The smaller one tops at 86dB, the bigger one 96dB.
