I have been getting a number of career/job advice from people I know. I find that the current online system of recruiting people maddening. Seems that resumes get filtered randomly and never get to hiring managers. So applying to jobs seems at best a random process.

I thought I create this thread to give people who want to have a job an opportunity to post here with the hope that someone reading the forum either has an open position, or can help others find one.

Conversely, if members want to post job openings, they are welcome to do so as well.

Nothing is worse than not having a job in these uncertain times. Conversely, having a position open and not filling it is a great missed opportunity. So let's help each other in any way we can on this front.

If this catches on, I may create a dedicated forum with different categories of jobs.

I find the idea very interesting and full of common sense. In these complicated times it is always great to find empathy on a forum. It so happens that I work for a Franco-English multinational and we have several opportunities in Europe mainly. If the principle is valid I will gladly share the job offers

Good idea.

On a lighter note we usually say..."let's not talk about job here". when we hang out with friends or having good time.

But still this is a good idea

What odd timing.

If anyone’s interested in a video editor with over 20 years employment in broadcast television, hit me up. Avid, Resolve, FCP…whatever’s needed, I’ve worked with them all. They are all just different tools for the same job.

The company I worked for the past 20 years put all of their eggs in one basket and it finally hit them (and me) last December. Mass layoffs. Fortunately, I’m financially secure enough to contemplate retiring, but just a bit bored enough that I’m perhaps not quite ready.

Great Idea! Thanks. Tech Program Manager in Europe here, looking around..
Automotive sector was already bad, now even worse for investments. Consumer electronics technology moved from EU to Far East and only Biomedical/Telecom electronics is surviving in EU.
Need to switch to Saas I guess!

Siemens is a massive EU/Global engineering organisation that does a lot of programme/project management. Before I retired, they always seemed to be short of good (certified) project/programme managers.

I assume you already have them in your sights, but if not I'd take a look in that direction.

In these once technical organizations I see a lot of focus on PM roles for Sales/Marketing but not much on Tech. Not so easy to get to speak with recruiters if you come from the tech dept. On top of that, everybody uses LinkedIn and recruiters are submerged by resumes. We look all the same, unless we worked for some famous brand.

Networking is a far superior tool than Linkedin!

Well this is an intersting thread;
I am a developer with 18 years experience in C/C++ and x86 Assembly.
I also have done PHP, SQL, JS, and other web langugaes for the past 14 or so years.
I launched my first website in 2002 and have done my own web hosting since 2006. So I started a server company in 2018 which does specialized web hosting and also web development services here in the USA. We have servers all over the world and relationships with datacenters both big and small. I have worked with many businesses from small to large and can consult on a project, build a software, or even build out an entire architecture for a project if so required.

During these uncertain economic times, business is quite slow. So I am open to partnerships, contracts or really anything that people need in the world of web hosting and/or development; feel free to send me a PM/DM.

Thanks Amir, what is the scope of this thread? I will be living in Melbourne Australia for at least 2 years. I have over 5 years of experience as an Executive Assistant, 3 years of repairing headphone as hobby. I'm fully adaptable and ready to explore diverse opportunities.

No scope limit at this point seeing how we have visitors from every part of the world and people with wildly different experiences/businesses.

Minimum would be to explain where you're from if you post here, though.

Most users here don't give that information - which is perfectly OK for audio discussion but may become a handicap if we speak about job.
(As it has proven to be for the "For Sale/want to Buy" forum)

I have to say I'm (half) amused by the very low adequacy between the job offers I receive through LinkedIn and my actual profile.

I found the mismatch ridiculous, most of the time.

When I get offered junior industrial automation programmer positions, while being in charge of the European OT and automation program for a major Global company for 8 years now, and with 36 years experience in leading teams, there is kind of a "disconnection" ;)

I find that funny because I'm not looking for another job. But if I was, I'd find that infuriating, for sure.

On the other side, I see a huge difference between "cheap" consultants that people teams are using to find and hire profiles we're looking for - most of those consultants are just using some more or less advanced search tools, while having no experience and zero understanding what the words actually mean - and, at the opposite side, clever companies that, on the contrary, bring the right experts on board to tune the search and filter results, understanding exactly what we're looking for.
Not surprisingly, the former are a pure waste of time, while the later always find quickly what you're looking for. And then charge a crazy fee on every hour you pay for.

Wanted: Linotype Operator / Mechanic and book binders willing to relocate with little pay.

PM for details. :)

Do you want to propose a quickie paragraph on what to include both for the company and applicant?

They're just contacting you to fill their quota before hiring a foreigner, it's well known where I live.

Here in the UK it's exactly like this. One can submit one's CV in response to an advert by a recruitment agency, and despite several follow up emails / phone calls never get a response.

I know of folk who have applied for several roles, submitting a well written CV and cover letter to agencies and not even getting to the interview stage. If they are to be believed, applications for a single role can be 100+ in some industries (IT in particular seems to be be bad).

Not forgetting the ghost jobs that are advertised just to get people on to their 'books'.

The recruitment industry in the UK is in dire need of a complete overhaul and some proper legislation.
