Master & Dynamic MW09 warning

I bought the Master & Dynamic MW09 earphones from the manufacturer when they 1st came out expecting premium quality for the $399 price tag. Initially, the sound was good and battery life exceptional. However, less than 18 months after purchase, the left earbud’s volume dropped to almost nothing and started buzzing when inserted, making it unusable. I contacted Master & Dynamic for support, but their response was shocking—standing on a 1 year warrany, they refused to repair (They said they don't have the ability to repair their own product), or replace the earbud, telling me to take it to an electronics repair shop. For such an expensive product, I expected much better durability and reasonable customer service. This is unacceptable, I can't believe Master & Dynamic will not stand behind their very expensive product. I can’t recommend the MW09 or this brand to anyone. Save your money and look elsewhere for reliable earphones

This is only tangentially related, but if you read the Glassdoor reviews of this company, it paints a picture of a company culture that fits this anecdote...

Very few earbuds are designed for repairability even by the manufacturer - like fitness bands, they tend to be glued shut for life, and considered disposable when the battery dies. The only ones I know that are designed with battery replacement in mind are from Fairphone:

Interesting first post…

Why should they be expected to fix it when it’s six months out of warranty?
Legally it depends where the OP is. Apple got a hefty fine for sticking to 1 year without AppleCare instead of the statutory 2 years in Europe. Liability there may extend beyond even that for a premium product with a design or manufacturing flaw (not something considered to be fair wear and tear.)

Warranty is two years in EU and one year elsewhere

So I’m guessing the OP is not in the EU
