I had not heard of these before, but the Marantz MPH-2 headphones are $40 on Musician's Friends stupid deal of the day
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro...rofessional-studio-headphones/j33425000000000

Head-Fi seems to think they are a good headphone for under $50, and are a clone of the ISK MDH9000

Based on Reference Audio Analyzer Pro's measurements, they would seem to be a warm, bassy headphone

I liked their sound, but they are extremely fragile. I broke mine within 30 minutes of receiving them. If you read the reviews on various websites, you'll see this is a common issue with them.

That's too bad. No wonder it's cheap. Otherwise, looks like it should be a hardy headphone.

I bought these on a MF stupid deal a few years ago. I left a review on MF, where I tried to start the phrase "no mids, must be Marantz", but its just not as catchy as "no highs, no lows, must be Bose".

They are not bad for $40. Comfy and easy to listen to. Apart from the mids, there was something else going on in the treble region that made cymbals sound a bit artificial - like lossy compression was always applied. My attempts to mix with these were an absolute disaster, but for casual listening they are fine.

BTW, they also look a lot like Audio Technica ATH-m50x, which Oratory measured here ...

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm at Newegg
+ 20% off w/ promo code 4NWYHYU329
$127.20 after discount
https://www.newegg.com/beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro-grey/p/0TF-00D2-00002
Thanks for the headsup on this. I'm probably gonna pull the trigger on these =D
While those are a great price I'd get them too :)

For the DT770 I like the 16 ohm version, nice to have something that's easier to drive for various devices other than my main headphone amps, like any 3.5mm audio output other than an amp - PC, Mac, small radio, or other portable music devices.

The build quality increases - more luxurious materials with an easy to appreciate final finish - on the DT880 which I enjoy in 250 ohm and 600 ohm, with the DT990 in 600 ohm being versatile as well being driven by small portable 3.5mm outputs.

The DT770 16 ohm is the cheapest I've seen it, I think I paid $179 on sale a while back, now $149:

Amazon.com: Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 16 Ohm Over-Ear Headphones (Ninja Black, Limited Edition) - Ideal for Xbox ONE, PS4, PC Gaming, Streaming, Podcasts, and Smartphones - Made in Germany: Musical Instruments

Passive Bookshelf:
Monitor Audio Bronze Series 1
Was US$300/pair, now on sale for US$280/pair (7% drop) on amazon.com
Lowest price in the last year.
To get deal, purchase from 'HiDEF Lifestyle Home Theater Store'.

Discontinued by Monitor Audio, I'm guessing replaced by Bronze 50 and Bronze 100.

Audio Advisor also has open box Bronze 1 @ $260 and Bronze 2 @ $350

Tannoy Gold 5
Was US$250/ea, now on sale for US$200/ea (20% off) on sweetwater.com

Tannoy Gold 7
Was US$300/ea, now on sale for US$250/ea (17% off) on sweetwater.com
Amazon.com has the same deal. Last time it was on sale was back in April 2020, for US$240/ea.

Tannoy Gold 8
Was US$384/ea, now on sale for US$300/ea (22% off) on sweetwater.com
Amazon.com is not on sale (yet?). Lowest price was US$340/ea back in Feb 2020.

Seeing how infrequent these are (a few times a year on Amazon.com), it's a great time to buy, if interested.

UPDATE:
Gold 8 was measured by @Χ Ξ Σ and he posted his in-room-measurements here.
