For those looking for very cheap speaker amplifiers:

Parts-Express has a 48 hour sale on that includes the Dayton Audio APA-150 75w x 2 amplifier for $125 including shipping....about a $35 savings. In Amir's test the panther keeps his head. The test results seem fine to me for typical use. The last poster on the thread is not happy with the background noise level...which I can see could be a problem for desktop audio use or with highly efficient speakers if you are sensitive to hiss.

Parts Express has a buyout sale on the FX-Audio FX202A Class D amp that is rated at 40w x 2 (8 ohms) for $46.95 including $6.95 shipping. Shipping is free on orders over $50. If it tests like other cheap class D amps, it probably puts out closer to 30w x 2. It is unusual in that it has a 4 position gain switch on the bottom which theoretically means it may be better suited for desktop use with lower audible hiss. It also comes with a 24v power supply which is larger than you usually get with this kind of amp... meaning you should get close to rated power from the TDA7492PE chipset.

Thanks for the heads up on this - I think I'm going to pick up one of those FX202As and use it to start tinkering with active crossovers. Hell I'll probably buy two of them so I'm set up to tinker with DIY 3-way designs down the road.

Anyone looking at the JBL 308P MkII ?? Good deal over at B&H Photo. US$129/pc. That's like almost 50% off regular retail.
(There's a $120 off discount applied at checkout. if it doesn't apply, use ""Coupon" .
