March Audio Sointuva

I would never deny your experience, there is a user case for the BXTs large room, sitting further away, playing much more loudly but my experience was that in ‘normal’ sized rooms at even loud 95dB+ levels there really wasn’t that much difference , distortion measurements were much improved with BXTs engaged.
BXTs aren’t exactly cheap either £15k a pair now I believe.
Back to March Audio.

We can see that the Sointuva AWG is possibly the best speaker when considering linearity, bass extension and low distortion. Even compared to more expensive and/or larger speakers. Phenomenal!
Looks awesome for sure! I'm almost certain my next speaker will be Purifi-based and I'd been considering the Philharmonic Audio BMR HT tower as an upgrade to my Revel M106 but thoughts on how this would compare? I high-pass to subs below 80Hz regardless of the bass capability of the mains due to my room's acoustics so absolute depth is not really critical but midbass headroom is.

@Matias

Is the speaker you bought the same as the one Erin measured?
I saw the name AWG on spinorama.org, and assumed it was a newer speaker, than the one Erin measured.
Maybe I’m just confused.
Perhaps @pierre added it by mistake as a new speaker, but it's actually the same speaker?

I don’t think so. The drivers are not the same.

From Alan:

« The green one you have is of the previous WG design that used Puirfis paper woofer. The new AWG uses their aluminium woofer variant and looks different. »

I changed the picture for the new one.

Hey, look, it's my speaker on Spinorama.org! What an honor! :D

What amplifier are you using with them? Their sensitivity seems very low!
NCx500 dual mono by Apollon: 700W into 2 or 4 ohms. I could destroy them and still the amp would not break a sweat. :)

And also yes, March Audio's website still showing the paper woofer WG only. Aluminum woofer AWG is new, just released, only 2 pairs sold yet.
Sorry if I missed this (I haven't been following this whole thread)...

Seeing how March Audio doesnt have this new AWG speaker on their website yet, how can people order it?

Email or other means of contacting Alan I guess. He does lurk around some forums and has sporadic posts on his own forum.
I guess if you're at a hifi show you can also order them then and there as they were shown

Details of the new AWG speaker should be up soon (like real soon)!

I just happened to inquire about the speaker as he was updating the website.

Yep, there it is.

The progression of highs tunning is really nice compared to the previous, maybe the tower will even come down to my taste :).
Really good effort by the new standards!

I’m in floorstander mode right now, but these would get serious consideration from me if I was in the market for stand mounted speakers. Well done.

I'm confused whether you're purchasing a pair or a single unit...

The main page shows:

which clearly states PAIR...

but the cart clearly states SPEAKER... singular.

So which is it?

That's just bad website design! :facepalm:o_O

In Australia, speakers are quoted and sold in pairs unless stated otherwise (which is only ever done by pro-audio establishments)

March’s website is actually clearer than many other retailers here who usually don’t specify “pair”, it’s just assumed.
The cart therefore clearly states 1 pair

Am I supposed to know that information? lol

Well, it still says a single speaker even at checkout...

Again, the website is confusing!

I suggest March Audio fixes this confusing language.

Alan is very responsive to emails. You would have gotten a response quicker than posting here (if he's still awake ofc given the timezone difference).

Pierre Aubert's site lists the sensitivity at 72.3 db for 2.83v at 1 meter. Seems awfully low, is it correct?
